Summary
Performs a variety of material handling and logistical tasks in support of manufacturing production and/or prototype printed circuit boards and other products. Receives no instructions on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. Tasks are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making recommendations. Decisions/actions may cause a minor impact on the work unit operations or schedules. Works under general Supervision. Situations not covered by standard processes, procedures and methods are referred to expert resource. May demonstrate work methods to new employees. Deals directly with immediate supervisor, co-workers and team members; engages in exchanges of factual information and provides some explanation; interactions with external contacts, if applicable, require exchanging factual information and providing some explanation.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Assigns locations to materials in kitting area.
  • Works from verbal or written instructions to build kits for production (i.e., bulk, line side stocking, point of use, line support activities) or prototype operations.
  • Includes pre-forming parts, tape and reeling of components and splitting parts per individual process steps.
  • Counts and returns all parts to warehouse after completion of work order.
  • Updates material list spreadsheets.
  • Generates daily short lists of materials and communicates to planners, engineers and coordinators.
  • Performs periodic audits and/or cycle counts to monitor inventory accuracy.
  • Completes detailed inventory transactions in appropriate systems.
  • Compiles data and generates reports as needed.
  • Operates a variety of equipment including reel counters, weigh scales, and pallet jacks.
  • Delivers material to production and/or shipping areas.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
  • Knowledge of logistics systems, SMT materials, electronics packaging and electronics terms.
  • Knowledge of personal computers and ability to learn and use applications specific to this area.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to read and assimilate job documentation and identify and configure specific materials for each work order.
  • Ability to maintain detailed, accurate and organized records.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal customers.
  • Specific certifications and/or licenses as required.
Physical Demands
  • Duties of this position are performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional to frequent exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, etc.
  • Duties of this position require occasional sustained concentration to focus on small areas, objects, computers, etc.
  • Duties of this position require continuous light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motion, standing, sitting in a confined work space, climbing, using equipment, handling lightweight materials, etc.
  • Duties of this position require periodic heavy manual effort and considerable exertion including lifting objects over 20 pounds, requiring straining, pulling and lifting.
