Distribution Center Material Handler

Knoxville Plant - Knoxville, TN

Overview

Description

Reily Foods Company has a passion for flavor and has been providing iconic foods and beverages that create meals and memories for over 120 years! Our products consist of New England Coffee, French Market Coffee, Luzianne Iced Tea, Blue Plate Mayonnaise, Swans Down Cake Flour, Tiger Sauce, and Carroll Shelby Chili (to name a few) and can be found in foodservice and retail locations around the country.

The Material Handler is responsible for safely operating forklift equipment within the manufacturing facility and/or distribution center ensuring that quality products are received, produced, and shipped in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
  • Operate forklift equipment safely and efficiently to receive, handle, and store product in accordance with HACCP and GMP standards
  • Perform vehicle safety checks and report discrepancies to supervisor
  • Ensure all equipment is stored at the end of shift
  • Utilize the scanning system to create accurate locations and perform accurate inventory transactions
  • Inspect inbound materials and products for damages, defects, and discrepancies; promptly report any issues to Quality and Leadership
  • Conduct monthly cycle counts and inventory of receiving area
  • Learn and maintain customer standards for product specifications and acceptable quality
  • Read and follow instructions regarding daily expectations, requirements, or specifications
  • Perform minor equipment adjustments to ensure equipment is operating optimally
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping pallet, warehouse and workstation areas neat, clean up aisles, pick up leftover pallets, sweep the floors and keep exits clear and free from obstructions
  • Follow all safety procedures and actively participate in safety training and safety system ownership initiatives
  • Maintain safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person; reports any injury, accident, or unsafe condition to supervisor immediately
  • Support and comply with GMP's; understand and follow emergency action plan
  • Support food safety, quality, and legality
  • Ensure the operation is providing food-safe, quality products which meet or exceed all product specifications and regulatory requirements
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of forklift and/or warehouse experience
  • Technical skills include the basic ability to use a scan gun, forklift certified, basic math and inventory / cycle counting skills
  • Interpersonal skills include good verbal and written communication, good time management skills and the ability to follow rules and directions
  • Leadership skills include a positive attitude, being a team player and self-leadership
