Job description

Planner – PCBA Manufacturing

Location: Carson City, NV
Department: Materialsn
Reports To: Director of Materials 

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-driven and proactive Planner to oversee production material planning, inventory management, and purchasing coordination for our PCBA manufacturing operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that materials, components, and assemblies are available to meet customer delivery schedules while maintaining optimal inventory levels and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain production plans and material requirements to support manufacturing schedules and on-time delivery goals.

  • Review and release work orders based on demand, customer forecasts, and internal capacity.

  • Analyze and monitor BOMs (Bills of Materials) to ensure accurate component availability prior to build.

  • Maintain inventory accuracy through coordination with stockroom and warehouse teams; investigate and resolve variances.

  • Collaborate with Purchasing to manage component lead times, shortages, and supplier constraints.

  • Identify and mitigate potential material shortages; proactively communicate with internal teams and customers.

  • Work closely with Program Management, Production, and Engineering to align material readiness with build schedules.

  • Monitor ECO (Engineering Change Orders) and ensure timely implementation in planning and purchasing systems.

  • Generate and maintain planning metrics, including on-time delivery, inventory turns, and material availability.

  • Support MRP/ERP data integrity by ensuring accurate item master, lead times, and safety stock parameters.

  • Assist in developing and improving planning and purchasing workflows to streamline operations across Rocket's facilities.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in production planning, materials coordination, or supply chain within a PCBA or electronics manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of BOM structures, component lifecycles, and MRP/ERP systems (experience with NetSuite, SAP, or similar preferred).

  • Working knowledge of SMT, through-hole, and box-build processes in electronics manufacturing.

  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis for managing demand, inventory, and supply metrics.

  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and cross-functional communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in purchasing or buyer-planner roles for electronics or aerospace industries.

  • Familiarity with IPC Class 3 manufacturing standards and high-reliability PCBA builds.

  • APICS or CPIM certification a plus.

Pay Range
$68,000—$82,000 USD

ITAR/EAR Compliance: Due to the nature of the work performed at Rocket EMS, this position may require access to export-controlled technical data or technology. The successful candidate must be eligible to access such information under applicable U.S. export-control laws or be eligible for any required government authorization.
