Job description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Inspects facilities for compliance with environmental health and safety regulations; advises users of proper handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials (i.e. paint booth audits)
  • Assists in defining the scope of work for chemically contaminated property, including sampling, testing, removal, decontamination, and disposal
  • Coordinates special waste disposal projects, including the handling of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals and mixed wastes
  • Advises management on potential hazardous materials and makes recommendations as required
  • Maintains records such as hazardous and non-hazardous waste manifests, bill of lading for recycling, and associated documents
  • Responds to hazardous materials spills such as oil, acid, and paint; implements clean-up plan
  • Will assist with Environmental compliance as well as Safety

EDUCATION, SKILLS, & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma and minimum one (1) year of related safety experience required. Associate/Technical degree in related fields a plus
  • Must have knowledge of general industry standards, e.g., Hazard Communication Program, MSDS/SDS, Exposure Control Program (Bloodborne Pathogens, TB), Hazard Assessment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Respiratory Protection, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Fire Safety, Emergency Action Plan, and Confined Space Emergency Action Plan
  • First Aid, CPR, & AED Certified a plus
  • Experience in Hazardous Materials a plus
  • Must have experience with Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) & pass the Blue Bird PIT Certification
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Self-starter and takes initiative
  • Must be able to achieve an OSHA 30 within 6 months of employment

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, and fumes
  • Fast-paced environment with moving objects, sharp edges, and congested working areas
  • Will be pushing, pulling, kneeling, reaching overhead, grasping, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • This position will work overtime the EHS Department does not follow the same schedule as the normal plant.

  • Must meet established quality, safety, and environmental standards
  • Maintain positive and even-tempered attitude
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Must meet established attendance policy and work overtime when required
  • Must perform other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisor
