What are Masterworks professionals?

Masterworks professionals are experts who specialize in the acquisition, authentication, and management of high-value artworks, often for investment purposes. They work for companies like Masterworks, which allows individuals to invest in shares of fine art by renowned artists. Their roles may include art research, valuation, logistics, and ensuring the physical and financial security of the artworks. These professionals often have backgrounds in art history, finance, or museum studies. They serve as the link between investors, artists, and the art market, helping make art investment more accessible.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals working in the art investment sector at companies like Masterworks?

Professionals in the art investment sector, such as those at Masterworks, often navigate challenges like evaluating the authenticity and market value of artworks, staying informed about art market trends, and balancing investor expectations with the inherent unpredictability of art as an asset class. The role requires close collaboration with art experts, legal teams, and financial analysts to ensure compliance and sound investment decisions. Adapting to changes in market sentiment and managing a diverse portfolio also demand strong analytical and communication skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Masterworks Art Investment Analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Masterworks Art Investment Analyst, you need a strong background in finance, data analysis, and art history, usually supported by a degree in finance, economics, or a related field. Familiarity with investment analysis tools, financial modeling software, and proprietary art market databases is typically required. Exceptional research skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are vital soft skills for building investment cases and collaborating with clients and team members. These competencies are crucial for accurately evaluating art assets, advising clients, and making sound investment decisions in the alternative asset market.

About Masterworks

Masterworks Advisers is a Registered Investment Adviser that advises clients on art-related investment products. We allow anyone to invest in SEC-qualified shares of multi-million dollar paintings by artists like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso. We have introduced over 1 million individuals to the $2.2 trillion art market.

Masterworks has been covered by The New York Times, CNBC, The Wall Street Journal, and the Financial Times, and was recognized as one of the Top 50 Startups in the US by LinkedIn. In 2021, we achieved unicorn status with a $110M Series A at a valuation exceeding $1 billion. We are based at 1 World Trade Center in New York City's Financial District.

Support Senior Advisors on relationship management, follow-up coordination, and meeting preparation

Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in CRM (HubSpot) for all prospect interactions and pipeline activity

Assist with gallery operations as needed to ensure a seamless client experience at events

Requirements:

Proven ability to drive outbound activity and meet volume-based goals

Strong interpersonal skills with comfort engaging sophisticated, high-net-worth individuals in person

Competitive, results-oriented mindset with eagerness to grow into a senior advisory role

Based in NYC and available to work 11am-7pm M-F at our gallery on the Upper East Side
