Job description

Human Resource Administrator

The Human Resources Manager oversees all human resources and payroll functions for First Port City Bank, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. This role partners with senior leadership to foster a positive organizational culture, promote employee engagement, and advance the bank's strategic objectives through effective HR practices. The Human Resources Manager is expected to consistently uphold and demonstrate First Port City Bank's Core Values: Positive, Professional, and Productive.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Review job descriptions, post job openings, schedule and assist with interviews, and review employment offers, supporting managers as needed.
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding processes to facilitate smooth transitions for new hires and departing employees.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures; coordinate handbook reviews and provide guidance on policy interpretation.
  • Oversee benefits administration, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Oversee and manage payroll operations, including processing compensation, benefits, and deductions, coordinate payroll schedules, direct deposits, wage garnishments, and payroll tax filings.
  • Review and reconcile payroll data, address discrepancies, administer paid time off (PTO), leaves of absence, and overtime policies, and maintain confidential payroll records.
  • Monitor changes in payroll laws and employment legislation, updating policies to support ongoing compliance.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and HR matters, providing appropriate guidance.
  • Support leadership in employee performance management, conflict resolution, and employee development initiatives.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture by promoting employee engagement, supporting constructive interactions, and proactively addressing conflicts.
  • Track and report HR metrics (e.g., turnover, benefits, training and developments, etc. to senior leadership as requested.
  • Represent the bank in public relations activities, community affairs, and civic organizations to strengthen community relationships.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support the bank's objectives
  • Perform other HR duties supporting the management of the HR function
Role Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or equivalent professional or senior-level HR certifications are highly preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in human resources.
  • Preference for at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience as an HR business partner to managers, leaders, and senior leadership is strongly preferred.
  • Additional preference for candidates with experience in banking or financial services.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive understanding of employment laws and regulations (FLSA, ADA, FMLA, EEOC, etc.), HR best practices, organizational development, and compensation/benefits programs.
  • Experience in recruiting, conflict resolution, employee engagement, and performance management.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, manage multiple tasks and priorities, and provide HR support at all levels of the organization.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a consistent ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word), payroll, and benefits software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks independently.
  • A combination of preferred education, experience, and/or skills and abilities will be taken into consideration.
