Teacher/Professional - Secondary - Campus Instructional Coach

ROLE AND PURPOSE: To improve the instruction of all students on campus through a job-embedded professional learning coaching model
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's Degree from Accredited University
  • Master's degree in education (preferred)
  • Meet NCLB highly qualified requirements
  • Texas Teacher's Certification

Experience:
  • Three or more years successful teaching experience required

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
I. INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
  • Teacher Support:
    • Formal 1-1 Coaching
    • Conferencing
    • Co-planning and co-teaching
    • Demonstration lessons
    • Focused classroom visits
    • Assisting in the analysis of data to determine instructional needs
    • Professional learning
    • Study groups based on campus needs
  • Student support in collaboration with the teacher
    • Individual instruction and/or assessment
    • Small group instruction
    • Apply extensive knowledge of technology and instructional application
    • Apply extensive knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
    • Apply extensive knowledge of Texas curriculum (TEKS) and state assessments

II. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE
    • Apply excellent communication and interpersonal skills

III. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT
    • Apply thorough knowledge of effective professional learning including coaching and adult learning theory
    • Apply excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Assisting with campus documentation and reports
    • Testing (i.e. STAAR) evaluation and analysis
    • Identification of campus-wide instructional needs
    • Coordination between grade levels and/or departments
    • Communication of district information/requirements and professional learning opportunities

IV. SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS
    • Support of the family/community engagement program

V. PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
    • Participation in the following to strengthen and grow own professional knowledge
    • Instructional coach meetings, colleague groups, peer support sessions
    • Establish and maintain required instructional coach records
    • Keep abreast of current research and practice

VI. MISCELLANEOUS
    • Other duties as requested campus principal
