Job Summary:
Qualcomm is a leading technology company specializing in multimedia research and development. They are seeking Video Compression Research Engineers to develop algorithms and systems for advanced video compression applications using classical and machine learning methods.
Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the design, implementation, and optimization of advanced algorithms to improve video compression efficiency.
• Participate in the research and development of AI-based compression tools.
• Represent Qualcomm in the related standardization forums: JVET, MPEG Video, and ITU-T/VCEG.
• Document and present new algorithms and implementations in various forms, including standards contributions, patent applications, conference and journal publications, etc.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Expert knowledge of the theory, algorithms, and techniques used in video and image coding, including latest video coding standards such as HEVC and VVC.
• Experience with deep learning architectures, including CNN, RNN, and autoencoders.
• Track record of successful research accomplishments demonstrated through published papers, and/or patent applications in the fields of video coding or video processing.
• Solid programming skills in C/C++ combined with knowledge of at least one machine learning framework such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills, great work ethic, and ability to work in a team environment to accomplish common goals.
• Masters or PhD degree with relevant work experience or publications in the areas of video compression, video/image processing algorithms, computer vision, or machine learning.
• PhD or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or similar fields.
• 1+ years of experience with programming language such as C, C++, MATLAB, etc.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
• Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
• PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
