Job Title: Sales Director - Masterbatch (Color and Additives)

Job Summary:

The Sales Director, of Masterbatch Color and Additives, will be responsible for driving sales, developing new business, and interfacing with key accounts within the masterbatch segment. The Sales Director will be expected to travel throughout the assigned territory working with the sales team to develop new accounts and increase sales with existing customers. The Sales Director and team will be expected to maintain CRM profiles on all customers and potential/ targeted business. The role involves promoting color and additive solutions to various industries, including Plastics, Flexible Packaging, Ridge Packaging, Automotive, Lawn & Garden, Building/Construction, Power Tools, Ag, Sport & Leisure, and Consumer Goods. Target customers are in: Injection Molding, Blow Molding, Thermoforming, Rotational Molding, Blown Film, Cast Film, Extrusion Film Sheet & Casting. The Sales Director will collaborate with their team to develop strategies that will increase market share and profitability. The Sales Director will also collaborate with the technical and production teams to meet customer demands, offer tailored solutions, and ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities: Sales and Business Development:

  • Develop and execute a sales strategy to expand market share for color and additive masterbatch products.
  • Identify new business opportunities, build relationships with potential clients, and work with the team to convert leads into sales. HUNTER
  • Manage the sales pipeline, ensuring timely follow-ups, proposals, and closing of deals.
  • Negotiate pricing and contract terms to meet both customer needs and company profitability goals ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Must possess excellent organization, prioritization, and follow-up skills.
  • Strong communication skills and relationship management skills.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to develop new and innovative masterbatch formulations and improve existing product lines.
  • Support the sales team with technical expertise and assist in the presentation of products to clients.

Account Management:

  • Maintain and grow relationships with key clients, acting as the primary point of contact for product inquiries, orders, and customer service.
  • Understand customer needs and work closely with the technical and production teams to offer customized solutions.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction, address any concerns, and ensure long-term partnerships.

Market Research and Strategy:

  • Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences in the masterbatch and plastics industry.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to develop promotional strategies, sales materials, and product positioning.
  • Provide feedback to R&D and production teams on market demands, trends, and opportunities for new product development.

Reporting and Performance Tracking:

Qualifications / Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of sales experience in the compounding plastic masterbatch industry, specifically in color and additive products.
  • Strong knowledge of masterbatch formulations, plastics additives manufacturing processes and applications across various industries such as packaging, automotive, and consumer goods.
  • Proven record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a B2B environment.
  • Familiar with CRM systems; Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Willing to travel 50% of the time.
  • Motivated, ambitious, and self-driven.
  • Able to work independently.

Technical Skills:

  • Understanding of plastic processing methods such as extrusion, injection molding, thermoforming, film & sheet, and blow molding.
  • Familiarity with color matching, polymer additives, and masterbatch production.
  • Strong understanding of market trends and customer needs in the plastic industry.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and closing skills.
