Position Summary: The Masker is responsible for preparing parts and components for surface treatments, coatings, and finishes in compliance with strict NADCAP certification standards. This role involves the accurate and efficient application of masking materials to ensure that non-designated areas of components are protected during processing, ensuring part integrity and quality.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Apply Masking Materials: Select and apply appropriate masking materials (tape, plugs, caps, etc.) to parts and assemblies, ensuring proper coverage and protection during the surface treatment process (e.g., plating, anodizing, coating, etc.).
  • Understand and Follow NADCAP Requirements: Ensure all masking practices adhere to NADCAP guidelines and the specific requirements for aerospace and defense parts.
  • Inspect Parts: Before masking, perform thorough visual inspections of parts for cleanliness, surface defects, and readiness for the masking process.
  • Collaboration with Production and Quality Teams: Communicate regularly with production and quality assurance teams to ensure masking is done according to specifications and timelines. Address any issues related to masking or part quality.
  • Maintain Process Documentation: Accurately document the masking process, including the materials used, time spent, and any deviations from standard procedures. Ensure traceability for each part through detailed logs.
  • Perform Quality Checks: Conduct routine inspections to ensure masking has been applied securely and meets quality standards. Address any flaws or issues before parts proceed to the next step in the production process.
  • Ensure Cleanliness and Safety: Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools and equipment are in proper working order. Follow all safety procedures and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
