Martech Data Engineer information

How does a Martech Data Engineer typically collaborate with marketing and analytics teams to achieve business goals?

As a Martech Data Engineer, you will regularly partner with marketing and analytics teams to design, build, and maintain data pipelines that support campaign performance tracking and customer segmentation. You’ll work closely with marketers to understand their data needs and translate them into scalable technical solutions, often attending cross-functional meetings to plan new data integrations or troubleshoot issues. Collaboration also involves ensuring data quality, managing ETL processes, and enabling self-serve analytics by making data accessible and reliable for non-technical stakeholders. This close teamwork helps drive data-driven decision-making and ensures marketing strategies are effectively measured and optimized.

What is a Martech Data Engineer?

A Martech Data Engineer is a technology professional who specializes in building and maintaining the data infrastructure that supports marketing technology (Martech) platforms. They enable the collection, integration, and analysis of marketing data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality and accessibility for marketing teams. Their work helps organizations make data-driven marketing decisions, personalize customer experiences, and measure campaign effectiveness. Martech Data Engineers often collaborate with marketers, analysts, and other engineers to implement data pipelines and optimize marketing operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Martech Data Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Martech Data Engineer, you need a solid background in data engineering, SQL, and marketing technology platforms, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with ETL tools, cloud data platforms (such as AWS or GCP), and certifications in marketing automation systems like Salesforce or Adobe Experience Cloud are highly valuable. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help bridge the gap between marketing and technical teams. These skills enable the efficient integration, analysis, and utilization of marketing data, driving better decision-making and campaign performance.

Job description

Job Description - Principal Amperity Solution Architect - MarTech Transformation
Role Title: Principal Amperity Solution Architect - MarTech Transformation
Atlanta, GA onsite - 3 Days Each week
Duration: Immediate RFP solutioning support with potential extension into implementation leadership

Position type: Fulltime
Experience: 12+ years overall, with deep Customer Data Platform (CDP), MarTech, and enterprise transformation experience
Role Overview
We are looking for a Principal Amperity Solution Architect to support a strategic MarTech transformation initiative involving migration from legacy Acxiom capabilities to a modern customer data platform ecosystem.
This is not a platform implementation-only role. We need a senior leader who can operate as both architect and strategist - shaping solution direction, engaging with client stakeholders, defining transformation roadmap, and helping craft a compelling RFP response.
The consultant will play a critical role in evaluating current-state architecture, defining the future-state customer data ecosystem leveraging Amperity CDP, and building an executable migration and implementation strategy aligned to enterprise retail customer engagement needs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end solution architecture and RFP solutioning for Acxiom sunset / modernization initiative.
  • Assess current MarTech, customer data, campaign, and activation ecosystem.
  • Define future-state architecture leveraging Amperity CDP and adjacent MarTech capabilities.
  • Build migration strategy from legacy customer data / identity / segmentation platforms into modern CDP architecture.
  • Design architecture covering:
    • Customer identity resolution
    • Unified customer profile / Customer 360
    • Audience segmentation
    • Campaign activation integration
    • Data ingestion / ETL / ELT pipelines
    • API integration patterns
    • Consent, privacy, governance, and compliance
    • Data quality and stewardship framework
  • Partner with teams across:
    • MarTech
    • Data Engineering
    • Analytics
    • CRM / Campaign Management
    • Loyalty / Personalization
    • Business and retail stakeholders
  • Support solution documentation, assumptions, dependency mapping, effort estimation, commercial inputs, and implementation roadmap creation.
  • Participate in discovery workshops, client architecture discussions, and executive solution presentations.
  • Help define delivery operating model, implementation accelerators, risks, mitigation strategies, and transformation governance.
Required Skills / Experience
Must Have
  • Hands-on architecture and implementation experience with Amperity CDP
  • Deep expertise in Customer Data Platforms (CDP), customer identity, and customer data architecture
  • Proven experience in enterprise-scale migration / modernization from legacy ecosystems such as:
    • Acxiom
    • Adobe Experience Platform
    • Salesforce Data Cloud
    • Treasure Data
    • Segment
    • BlueConic
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Identity resolution / identity graph
    • Customer 360 architecture
    • Audience segmentation
    • Campaign activation workflows
    • Data governance / consent management
    • API-led integration architecture
  • Strong data architecture experience:
    • SQL
    • Cloud data platforms
    • ETL / ELT architecture
    • Batch and near-real-time data integration
  • Experience solutioning RFP / transformation programs
  • Strong executive communication, workshop facilitation, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred
  • Retail / omnichannel enterprise experience
  • Department store / loyalty ecosystem experience
  • Exposure to Macy's-like MarTech and customer engagement architecture
  • Experience with loyalty, personalization, CRM, and marketing activation ecosystems
  • Experience with GCP / AWS / Azure
  • Knowledge of privacy regulations (CCPA / GDPR)
RFP Phase Deliverables
  • Current-state architecture assessment inputs
  • Future-state architecture definition
  • Migration and transition roadmap
  • Solution assumptions and dependency register
  • Effort estimation / delivery model
  • Risk and mitigation framework
  • Commercial solutioning support
  • Client presentation support
  • RFP response content contribution
Ideal Candidate Profile
A senior transformation leader who combines deep Amperity platform expertise, enterprise architecture thinking, retail MarTech understanding, and strong client-facing solutioning capability.
This role requires someone who can rapidly convert ambiguity into executable architecture and confidently engage both technical teams and executive stakeholders.
