Job description

This is a temporary position. 

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a passionate FLEX Manager, Software Engineer to join our Loyalty Engineering team to help build the next generation of our Loyalty Platform for Marriott International. The candidate will work with our Senior Software Engineers to design and build innovative solutions in support of our platform. The candidate should be able to collaborate extensively with other Engineers, writing and debugging code. Troubleshoot software issues. Provide on-call support as needed.

Candidate will work across multiple products & engineering teams to deliver incremental value against Loyalty Platform roadmap. Perform research, analysis, design, creation, and implementation of applications to meet current and future user requirements. Help develop proof-of-concept implementations to help evaluate cutting-edge technology to drive and meet Marriott business & technology objectives. Candidate must have the ability to communicate upward to superiors and laterally to other departments. 

CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience  

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/certification.
  • 3+ years' experience in developing software with expert-level expertise in multiple programming languages and methodologies.
  • 2+ years' hands-on experience with application development tools.

Preferred:

  • Experience with initiatives to implement Microservices by applying industry best practices. 
  • Working knowledge of APIs, Microservices, Webservices, Rest APIs, Kafka Eventing, and Application Development involving databases such as DB2, Couchbase, and Cassandra.
  • Experience with deployment of Microservices or webservices via Jenkins pipeline, Kubernetes, dockers.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Collaborate extensively with Senior Software Engineer to design and implement innovative solutions in alignment with the Loyalty Platform Roadmap.
  • Engage across multiple product and engineering teams to deliver incremental value, meeting current and future user requirements.
  • Perform in-depth research, analysis, and implementation of applications, contributing to the ongoing enhancement of the platform.
  • Assist in developing proof-of-concept implementations, evaluating cutting-edge technology to drive Marriott's business and technology objectives.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills to engage upward with superiors and laterally with cross-functional departments.

Technical Leadership

  • Identifies opportunities to enhance the service delivery processes.

Delivering Technology 

  • Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analyses for service delivery processes and projects.
  • Works with SSE to provide consultation for routine and complex systems development.
  • Coordinates with Operations and Infrastructure teams for deployment and production support activities.

IT Governance

  • Follows all defined IT standards and processes (i.e. IT Governance, SM&G, Architecture, etc.) and provides input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as needed.
  • Maintains a proper balance between business and operational risk. 
  • Follows the defined project management standards and processes.
