Connoisseur Media - Columbus is Calling All Sports Fanatics and Radio Rockstars!
Are you passionate about sports and radio, and ready to be part of the magic behind the mic? Connoisseur Media in Columbus, Nebraska, is on the hunt for a part-time Board Operator/Sports Play-by-Play Announcer to help bring the sound to life on our iconic stations: KZ-100, KZEN (FM), Clear 101 KLIR (FM), and The Hawk, KKOT (FM).
This is your chance to get hands-on experience in live broadcasting! We're looking for a reliable, enthusiastic team player who's flexible with their schedule-weekends and nights are a must, as well as extra shifts that may arise.
We're looking for someone who lives and breathes radio-someone ready to jump behind the mic, bring local sports to life, and connect with our community every single day. If you've got at least one year of on-air experience and a love for juggling multiple roles-from writing and delivering sports news to producing engaging audio and hosting on-location broadcasts-we want to meet you!
Responsibilities of this position may include the following:
  • Operate the on-air console and audio controls.
  • Monitor station transmitters.
  • Run ball games and commercials.
  • Accurately log discrepancies.
  • Maintain studio equipment and logs.
  • Broadcast live from remote locations and events.
  • Play-by-play of area local sports teams.
  • Understand the procedures to follow in case of a computer crash or loss of broadcast signal.
  • Communicate with the station Program Director in the event of any concerns, issues, or problems with the broadcast.

Requirements for this position include the following:
  • Ability to work 15-20 hours per week (mostly nights and weekends).
  • Ability to interact with management and staff at all levels.
  • Proficient in running radio automation systems.

Preference may be given to candidates who have the above experience plus the following:
  • Previous experience in commercial or non-commercial broadcast media.
  • Experience operating automation systems.
  • Experience running radio automation systems, such as Marketron.
