Job description

Description
The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, and the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures (ALC) at the University of Michigan, invite applications for a LEO Lecturer I - Urdu and Punjabi Language for the Fall 2026 Term. The successful candidate will teach courses at any assigned level of Urdu and/or Punjabi language. This appointment is scheduled to begin on August 24, 2026.
Terms and conditions for this position are subject to the provisions of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the University of Michigan and the Lecturers' Employee Organization.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a Master's degree in a relevant field such as the following: language pedagogy (in Urdu or Punjabi language preferred), second language acquisition, or linguistics. Native or near-native proficiency in Urdu, Punjabi, and English is required.
At least one year of experience teaching Urdu and/or Punjabi independently or worked as a teaching assistant at the college/university level in the US is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who are familiar with contemporary second language teaching methodologies, instructional technologies, heritage/non-heritage teaching, curriculum development, and have typing skills in Urdu and Punjabi.
