Ultimately, marketers help businesses connect with consumers and achieve their business goals.

How to get a job in marketing?

Most marketing and advertising jobs require a bachelor’s degree, although some employers will consider experience in sales and advertising as a substitute for a college degree, especially if you have a compelling portfolio of work. Advanced degrees are not required by most agencies, although an MBA or an advanced degree in a field like accounting will set you ahead of other candidates, should you pursue work in the financial side of marketing. Market analysts should have strong math skills and facility with analytical problem-solving, while those who work in creative departments should have outstanding language and design skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a marketing professional?

Job description

Overview

Nestled in the heart of downtown Napa, this Luxury Marriott Hotel is a bold reimagining of luxury hospitality. Defined by originality, sophisticated character, and an elevated guest experience, the hotel will bring a fresh perspective to the Napa Valley market. As we prepare to open our doors, CoralTree is seeking a highly motivated Senior Marketing Manager to join the pre-opening team and help introduce this landmark destination to travelers, meeting planners, local audiences, and Marriott Bonvoy members worldwide.

This is a unique opportunity to build a luxury brand from the ground up, shaping the property's marketing strategy, storytelling, partnerships, and demand-generation efforts before opening and throughout the hotel's growth.

Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, the Senior Marketing Manager will lead the development and execution of integrated marketing strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and revenue across transient, group, dining, spa and ancillary experiences. The ideal candidate is a strategic and creative marketer who thrives in fast-paced environments, has experience with luxury or lifestyle hospitality brands, and is passionate about bringing compelling stories to life through digital, content, social, brand partnerships, and public relations initiatives.

Working closely with Marriott, CoralTree Hospitality, ownership, and agency partners, this role will be instrumental in launching the hotel's brand presence and establishing it as one of Napa’s premier luxury destinations.

Responsibilities
  • Brand Positioning: Support the development and execution of the hotel's brand positioning, ensuring all marketing efforts align with the property's vision, guest experience, and luxury market positioning.
  • Pre-Opening Strategy: Lead marketing initiatives tied to the hotel's pre-opening timeline, including launch campaigns, website readiness, photography, content creation, and collateral development.
  • Marriott Integration: Partner with Marriott teams to optimize brand channels, Bonvoy participation, digital merchandising, and brand compliance requirements.
  • Agency & Vendor Management: Coordinate external partners including creative agencies, PR firms, photographers, influencers, and production vendors to ensure successful project execution.

Marketing & Demand Generation

  • Integrated Campaigns: Develop and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns that drive awareness, consideration, and bookings across transient, group, and local market segments.
  • Digital Marketing Leadership: Oversee website content, paid media initiatives, SEO/SEM efforts, email marketing campaigns, and social media strategies that support business objectives.
  • Content & Storytelling: Create compelling content that showcases the hotel, guestrooms, culinary offerings, wellness experiences, event venues, and Napa Valley destination appeal.
  • Partner Development: Cultivate relationships with local businesses, luxury brands, wineries, tourism organizations, and community partners to enhance visibility and guest acquisition.

Public Relations & Social Media

  • Public Relations Support: Collaborate with the hotel's PR agency to execute media strategies, press announcements, influencer visits, and opening-related publicity efforts.
  • Social Media Management: Oversee social media content strategy and community engagement, ensuring a consistent brand voice across all platforms.
  • Reputation Management: Monitor online presence and guest sentiment, identifying opportunities to strengthen brand perception and market positioning.

Analytics, Budgeting & Performance

  • Performance Measurement: Track and analyze marketing initiatives, campaign effectiveness, website performance, and channel attribution to guide future investment decisions.
  • Budget Management: Manage marketing budgets, invoices, and project timelines, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and business objectives are achieved.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor competitive activity, luxury hospitality trends, consumer behavior, and Napa Valley market dynamics to identify opportunities and inform strategy.
  • Reporting & Insights: Present marketing performance updates and recommendations to property leadership, ownership, and CoralTree teams.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 4-6 years of progressive marketing experience, preferably within luxury hotels, resorts, lifestyle hospitality, or travel brands.
  • Experience supporting hotel openings, rebranding projects, or major marketing launches strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media strategy, content development and paid media.
  • Familiarity with Marriott systems, brand standards, and marketing platforms preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven analytical abilities and experience translating performance metrics into actionable insights.
  • Knowledge of Napa Valley, Northern California, luxury leisure travel, and drive-market dynamics preferred.
  • Creative thinker with a collaborative mindset and a passion for luxury hospitality experiences.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Competitive base salary plus performance-based bonus opportunity
  • Team member complimentary room night program across the CoralTree portfolio
  • Group medical, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits
  • Pre-tax flexible benefit plan for healthcare and dependent care reimbursement
  • Employee assistance program
  • Paid time off and sick time
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Marriott Bonvoy associate travel benefits and access to Marriott's global distribution network and professional development resources
