Job description

Spearhead strategic initiatives while leading a high-performing team at a premier law firm.
Allen Matkins, renowned for its deep expertise in real estate, litigation, corporate, finance, tax, and employment law, is seeking an innovative and dynamic Chief Business Development & Marketing Officer (CBDMO) to lead the firm's marketing, business development, branding, and communications strategy.
The CBDMO will partner closely with firm leadership to shape and execute initiatives that support the firm's strategic vision and business objectives, while collaborating across departments and practice groups to elevate brand presence, expand market visibility, and strengthen client relationships.
The role in action:
  • Build, lead, mentor and support a strong business development and marketing team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, trust, and collaboration.
  • Develop a brand strategy, ensuring alignment across digital channels, content, campaigns, and communications, while measuring performance, ROI, and impact through metrics and data-driven insights.
  • Work closely with firm leaders to drive firm and practice group level strategic planning initiatives.
  • Oversee market, client, and competitive intelligence to inform positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Drive new business development strategy and execution, including client feedback programs, pitch best practices, RFP/RFI/RFQ management, and coaching attorneys and teams through the full pursuit process.

We are seeking candidates who:
  • Bring 20+ years of experience in marketing and business development, with a minimum of five years in progressive marketing roles at the senior management level in a law firm environment.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or related field.
  • Possess exceptional communication skills with a demonstrated ability to articulate a compelling vision and strategy that inspires teams and drives measurable business outcomes.
