Job description

The Opportunity:

The Sr. Director of Marketing for Avantor Production Chemicals Portfolio will be responsible for creating demand, shaping market perception, and translating customer insights into action to drive growth across Avantor's chemicals portfolio, including brands such as JT Baker. This leader will develop and execute marketing strategies that generate qualified opportunities, improve win rates, and accelerate the adoption of new products. The role requires strong collaboration with Product Management, Sales, and Regional Marketing to ensure alignment across campaigns, launches, and customer engagement initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a commercially minded marketing leader with deep B2B experience in life sciences or chemical industries, capable of combining analytical rigor with creative execution to deliver measurable business impact.

How you will thrive and create and impact

  • Strategy and Demand Generation: Develop and lead the annual marketing plan by segment and workflow, including digital campaigns, content strategy, account-based marketing (ABM), and events that build pipeline and market awareness.

  • Customer Insight and Voice of Customer (VOC): Lead structured programs to collect and analyze customer feedback, win/loss outcomes, and competitive intelligence; publish actionable insight reports that guide product and commercial priorities.

  • Go-to-Market and Launch Execution: Partner with Product Managers and technical marketing to design and execute launch strategies, customer communications, and sales enablement materials; capture post-launch performance and customer validation.

  • Brand and Messaging: Own the JT Baker Strategy and narratives, messaging, and content across all channels, ensuring clarity, consistency, and claims discipline.

  • Performance and Measurement: Define and track marketing effectiveness metrics-lead quality, conversion rates, return on investment (ROI), and campaign impact on orders and revenue.

  • Collaboration and Alignment: Partner with Regional Marketing, Sales Operations, and Product Management to ensure campaign integration, data quality, and pipeline health.

What we're looking for

  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related technical field required.

    • Master's degree or MBA preferred

  • Required Experience:

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in business-to-business (B2B) marketing, preferably in the life sciences, biotechnology, or industrial sectors.

    • Proven experience in demand generation, digital marketing, and ABM programs.

    • Strong background in developing go-to-market strategies and leading cross-functional launch execution.

    • Demonstrated ability to translate customer insights into marketing programs that deliver measurable business results.

    • Exceptional collaboration skills and ability to influence in a matrixed organization.

  • Preferred Experience:

    • Prior experience supporting complex, technical product portfolios such as single-use assemblies, pumps, or process systems.

    • Familiarity with C4C or related CRMs, marketing automation platforms, and campaign analytics tools.

    • Commercially minded marketing leader with deep B2B experience in the life sciences or bioprocessing industries, capable of combining analytical rigor with creative execution to deliver measurable business impact.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$167,500.00 - $282,325.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
