Director of Marketing

Yardzen

Job description

At Yardzen, we believe people are at their best when they're outside.
Our mission is simple: help people complete the outdoor spaces of their dreams. We start with design and stay with the project through the build, pairing homeowners with a dedicated representative who guides cost and design tradeoffs, matches them with multiple vetted local contractors, makes sense of the estimates, and helps them confidently hire the right one. The result is a finished yard, not just a plan. Since our launch in 2018, we've helped tens of thousands of homeowners transform their outdoor spaces, make sustainable choices, enhance property value, and enjoy life outdoors.
We're transforming the $200 billion outdoor renovation industry with AI, data, and technology, making design effortless and the build clear, guided, and far less daunting from first idea to finished space. Recognized as Fast Company's Most Innovative and named to Inc. Magazine's Best Places to Work, our work has been featured in Architectural Digest, The New York Times, Sunset Magazine, House Beautiful, The Wall Street Journal, and Forbes. And we're just getting started.

We're hiring a Director of Marketing to help lead the next chapter of growth at Yardzen. Reporting to the Head of Marketing, this role is responsible for turning strategy into execution across the marketing organization.

The business is evolving from a design-first model to an integrated design-and-build offering that delivers a finished yard, not just a plan. You'll play a key role in bringing that vision to market by leading marketing execution, driving operational excellence and ensuring every initiative moves the business forward.

This is a role for someone who loves building. You'll partner closely with the Head of Marketing to execute the marketing roadmap, improve performance across the funnel and establish the processes, operating rhythm and accountability that allow the team to scale. You'll combine strategic thinking with a bias toward action and use data to continuously optimize how we market, acquire and retain customers.

What you'll do:
  • Partner with the Head of Marketing to translate strategy into quarterly priorities, campaigns and execution plans.

  • Lead day-to-day marketing execution across performance marketing, lifecycle, content, partnerships, product marketing and brand initiatives.

  • Bring a strong brand-building lens to marketing initiatives, ensuring campaigns are creative, cohesive, and consistent with the Yardzen brand.

  • Lead integrated brand campaigns across channels such as social, experiential marketing, influencers, content, and partnerships.

  • Own the marketing operating cadence, ensuring projects are delivered on time, cross-functional partners stay aligned and priorities remain on track.

  • Drive demand generation and conversion by continuously optimizing acquisition, activation and retention programs.

  • Monitor the health of the marketing funnel, identifying opportunities to improve conversion, customer acquisition efficiency and revenue.

  • Build reporting and dashboards that provide visibility into key marketing metrics, campaign performance and business impact.

  • Partner closely with Product, Design, Operations, Revenue and Customer Experience teams to deliver a seamless customer journey.

  • Manage external agencies, freelancers and marketing partners, holding them accountable for quality, timelines and performance.

  • Build scalable marketing processes, workflows and systems that improve speed, collaboration and execution across the organization.

  • Champion testing, experimentation and AI-enabled marketing workflows to improve team productivity and business results.

  • Develop, mentor and support members of the marketing team while fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.

What we're looking for:
  • 7+ years of consumer marketing experience, including experience leading cross-functional marketing initiatives and managing high-impact programs.

  • Experience at a DTC or consumer services company at meaningful scale, ideally between $25M and $200M in revenue.

  • A strong full-funnel marketer with experience across performance marketing, lifecycle, content and brand.

  • Strong brand-building experience, including working with creative agencies and developing campaigns across social, experiential, influencer, and other modern marketing channels.

  • Proven ability to execute complex marketing initiatives while balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience using metrics such as CAC, conversion, LTV and ROI to make business decisions and optimize performance.

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Experience building processes and operating systems that help teams execute more effectively at scale.

  • Comfortable working cross-functionally and influencing stakeholders across Product, Operations, Sales and Executive Leadership.

  • A hands-on leader who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and solving problems alongside the team.

  • Curious, adaptable and energized by change. You thrive in environments where priorities evolve quickly and opportunities are constantly emerging.

  • Experience managing agencies, contractors or external partners is preferred.

  • Bay Area preferred.

What we offer:
  • Remote work, always: We're a remote-first company
  • Full coverage for you: 100% paid medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Competitive compensation: Salary that matches your skills and experience
  • Support for growing families: 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave
  • Monthly perks: Wellness, cell phone, and internet stipends to keep you connected and cared for
$150,000 - $175,000 a year
Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's relevant experience, skills, qualifications, education, and geographic location.
At Yardzen, we're committed to creating a space where our employees can bring their full selves to work and have equal opportunities to succeed. We are looking for people that will add to our culture, not just fit in.  So regardless of race, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, origin, ability, age, or veteran status, if joining this mission speaks to you, we encourage you to apply!

If you are an individual with a disability and would like to request a reasonable accommodation as part of the application or the recruiting process, please contact us at [email protected].

Yardzen is registered as an employer in many, but not all, states. If you are not located in a state where Yardzen is registered, you will not be eligible for employment.
