Familiarity with marketing automation platforms (like HubSpot or Marketo), CRM systems, and analytics tools is typically required, along with certifications such as Salesforce or Google Analytics. A marketing operations manager supervises marketing department staff to maintain productivity and smooth operations. Unlike a marketing project manager who focuses on a particular marketing campaign, a marketing operations manager oversees the overall marketing department and ensures the staff meets their goals. Job duties include evaluating market trends to develop new marketing strategies, creating department goals, delegating project tasks to employees, and training new marketing employees. Qualifications for this career include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field, extensive marketing experience, and leadership skills.

What are some common challenges faced by marketing operations managers when aligning marketing technology with organizational goals?

Marketing Operations Managers often encounter challenges when ensuring that marketing technology stacks effectively support broader business objectives. Integrating new tools with existing systems, maintaining data accuracy across platforms, and securing buy-in from cross-functional teams can be complex. Additionally, staying updated with rapidly evolving marketing technologies while balancing cost and utility requires ongoing attention. Successful Marketing Operations Managers proactively communicate with stakeholders, regularly evaluate tech performance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement to address these hurdles.

Job Description

This is a long term contract role with our fortune 100 client. We have been working with them for over 20 years and you will be joining our team of 50+ professionals.

We are looking for a Social Media Operations Lead to be the backbone of our digital execution. This role is designed for a process-oriented professional who excels at turning complex requests into streamlined workflows. You will manage the lifecycle of social content—from the first request in Airtable to the final community interaction in Hootsuite—ensuring every step is documented, approved, and executed with precision.

Key Responsibilities

• Content Calendar Optimization: Maintain the master social media calendar in Airtable, ensuring a strategic and balanced cadence across the portfolio.

• Workflow & SLA Management: Establish and enforce Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for incoming requests. You will manage lead times and ensure internal stakeholders provide assets within the required windows to maintain our publishing schedule.

• Project Management: Act as the central intake hub for all social media requests. You will track statuses, manage follow-ups, and ensure content meets rigorous brand standards.

• Approval Facilitation: Support end-to-end approval workflows, navigating internal sign-offs to ensure all content is compliant and ready for launch.

• Scheduling & Community Management: Handle technical scheduling and tagging within Hootsuite. Additionally, you will manage the Hootsuite Inbox, engaging with our community and fostering professional dialogue on our owned channels based on an established engagement matrix.

• Operational Excellence & SOPs: Optimize and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for social media publishing and community management. You will help document "the way we work" to ensure consistency across all business units.

• Internal Training & Enablement: Serve as the primary point of contact for onboarding new team members or agency partners on our internal workflows, providing training on Airtable structures and Hootsuite protocols.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Platform Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Airtable (for workflow architecture) and Hootsuite (for publishing and inbox management).

• Process Design: Proven experience in creating SOPs or training documentation for digital or marketing teams.

• Stakeholder Diplomacy: Highly collaborative with the ability to manage expectations across multiple business units and internal teams.

• Meticulous Organization: A "project manager heart" with an obsession for deadlines, detail, and accuracy.

• Can-Do Attitude: A proactive problem solver who identifies bottlenecks and proposes solutions to make the team faster and more efficient.

The Environment

We value order, quality, and collaboration. You will succeed here if you enjoy the "behind-the-scenes" work that makes high-level marketing possible. You are the guardian of our process and the voice of our community.
