Director of Marketing

D3 Security Management Systems

Vancouver, BC • On-site

Full-time

Posted 7 days ago

Job description

Reports to: VP, Marketing

Location: Vancouver, BC

Type: Full-time, permanent

Please use this link to apply for this position on LinkedIn.

D3 Security builds Morpheus, an accountable agentic SOC platform that autonomously triages, investigates, and helps remediate security alerts at enterprise scale. We are a Vancouver-based company selling into global enterprises and MSSPs, and our marketing function is being built deliberately — not inherited.

About the role

The Director of Marketing is the VP’s right hand. Where the VP sets direction, this role makes it real: campaigns that ship on time, content that lands with a technical buying committee, programs that get measured honestly, and a team that knows what “done” looks like. This is an execution leadership role with real strategic input — not a coordinator seat, and not a seat where you can hide behind strategy decks.

You will be accountable for whether the marketing plan actually happens.

What you’ll own:

Execution and operating cadence

  • Turn the annual and quarterly marketing plan into a sequenced, resourced, dated operating plan — and hold it.
  • Run the marketing operating rhythm: planning, standups, launch readiness, retros. Surface slippage early rather than explaining it late.
  • Act as the VP’s proxy in cross-functional forums with sales, product, and revenue operations when needed.

Demand generation and campaigns

  • Own end-to-end campaign delivery across paid, email, web, events, and partner channels.
  • Work with sales and BDR leadership on pipeline targets, buyer intent signal frameworks, and follow-up discipline.
  • Maintain HubSpot as the system of record; insist on attribution that survives scrutiny.

Content and messaging

  • Direct the content engine: whitepapers, battlecards, technical blogs, case studies, web copy, and sales enablement.
  • Enforce message consistency across a technical product with a sophisticated audience — CISOs, SOC managers, security architects, and procurement all read different things and need different proof.
  • Protect technical accuracy. In cybersecurity, imprecise marketing claims are found out quickly and expensively.

GEO and search visibility

  • Own generative engine optimization (GEO) as a first-class discipline: how D3 and Morpheus are represented, cited, and recommended by ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and other AI answer engines.
  • Build and maintain the structural, schema, and third-party citation work that determines whether we appear in AI-generated answers — and track it with real measurement, not vibes.
  • Coordinate GEO with traditional SEO and analyst relations, since these three now feed each other.

Analyst and third-party visibility

  • Support analyst relations programs (Gartner, Forrester, Omdia, GigaOm, and independent researchers): briefing prep, evidence packages, submission cycles, and follow-through.
  • Build the evidence base — proof points, competitive displacement wins, benchmark data — that makes third-party validation possible.

What you bring

Required Experience

  • 6+ years in B2B marketing, with meaningful time in the technology sector. Cybersecurity, infrastructure software, or enterprise SaaS preferred.
  • Demonstrated ownership of full-funnel B2B programs, not just one channel.
  • Working fluency in modern B2B marketing practice: product-led and sales-led motions, buyer intent data, ABM, marketing automation, attribution modelling, and lifecycle marketing.
  • Practical GEO experience. This is a hard requirement, not a preference. You have actually done work to influence how a brand or product appears in AI-generated answers, you can explain your approach, and you can describe what worked, what didn’t, and how you measured it. Candidates without hands-on GEO work will not be considered.
  • Strong technical comprehension. You can read a product architecture doc, understand it, and translate it for six different personas without flattening it into mush.
  • Hands-on proficiency with HubSpot (or comparable), analytics tooling, and CMS platforms.
  • People and vendor management experience.
  • Excellent written English. You will be edited, and you will edit others.

How you work

  • Initiative. You bring problems with proposed answers attached. You start things.
  • Creative. You find angles others miss and are willing to test something unproven when the reasoning holds.
  • Direct. You say when something isn’t working, including when it’s your own idea.
  • Finisher. You care more about what shipped than what was planned.

Nice to have

  • Cybersecurity domain knowledge (SOC operations, SIEM/SOAR, detection engineering, or adjacent).
  • Experience marketing AI or agentic products, including navigating buyer skepticism about AI claims.
  • Channel, MSSP, or partner marketing experience.
  • Experience marketing into EMEA, particularly DACH, including data sovereignty considerations.
  • Analyst relations experience with a major research firm.

Why this role

You will work directly with a VP who will give you real scope, real feedback, and credit for your work. The product is genuinely differentiated and the category is being defined right now. If you want to be the person who builds a modern B2B marketing function in a fast-moving security company — rather than maintaining someone else’s — this is that role.

D3 Security is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates and provide accommodations throughout the hiring process on request.
