SUMMARY
The Decatur Park District is seeking a dynamic and skilled Marketing Specialist to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a creative professional with expertise in Adobe design tools, social media management, website maintenance, and print production. The successful candidate will play a critical role in promoting our parks, programs, and events to the community through engaging digital and print content. Additionally, this role will support marketing efforts for the Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater, the new Clubhouse at Scovill Acres, Banquet Halls, Decatur Parks Foundation fundraising, and large annual special events such as Trees on the Tees, Boo at the Zoo, Hardy's Boat Races, and more. The candidate will also generate innovative ideas specifically targeting youth sports and recreation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Manage and update the Decatur Park District website (WordPress), ensuring informational accuracy, timely content updates, and effective promotion of programs and events.
  • Oversee and maintain official Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and other social media accounts, creating and scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, responding to comments positively, and assist in developing social media campaigns to enhance community interaction.
  • Assist with marketing needs for the Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater, Decatur Parks Foundation, the Clubhouse at Scovill Acres, and Banquet Halls, including campaign development and promotional activities.
  • Create biweekly district-wide internal and external newsletters, ensuring consistent and engaging communication across all departments and audiences.
  • Collaborate on marketing and communication efforts for the Decatur Parks Foundation fundraising activities and annual appeals.
  • Support marketing and promotional efforts for large annual special events such as Trees on the Tees, Boo at the Zoo, Hardy's Boat Races, among others.
  • Create visually compelling content using Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and other Adobe Creative Suite tools for digital promotions, newsletters, flyers, brochures, and other marketing materials.
  • Proficiently convey communication through graphic design and imagery to effectively reach diverse audiences.
  • Assist in the design and production of print collateral that aligns with the District's branding and marketing goals.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to develop innovative ideas and strategies to increase youth sports and recreation participation.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to prepare reports, presentations, and other documents as needed.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and digital content to inform future strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS
