Job description

 Position Summary

Perspectum Drone Inspection Services Ltd. is seeking an experienced Business Development Lead to grow its inspection-services business across Alberta and Western Canada. This is a senior client-facing role for a commercially disciplined professional with established experience in the energy, utilities, oil and gas, environmental, or industrial-services sectors. The successful candidate will originate and advance opportunities, expand strategic accounts, and work closely with operations personnel to convert customer requirements into practical, executable inspection programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a business development strategy for Perspectum inspection services across Alberta and Western Canada.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities within upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas, utilities, pipelines, landfills, environmental services, infrastructure, and adjacent industrial markets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with operators, environmental and emissions teams, asset-integrity personnel, engineering groups, procurement teams, executives, consultants, and industry partners.
  • Manage the full commercial cycle from prospecting and qualification through solution development, proposal, negotiation, award, and operational handoff.
  • Maintain a disciplined pipeline of qualified opportunities, expected award dates, contract values, decision criteria, competitive position, and clearly documented next actions.
  • Expand existing accounts by identifying additional facilities, regions, service lines, recurring inspection programs, and master service agreement opportunities.
  • Work with operations and technical personnel to define client objectives, field requirements, deliverables, assumptions, schedules, resource needs, and commercially sound pricing.
  • Translate UAS-enabled inspections, optical gas imaging, methane detection and quantification, right-of-way inspection, remote sensing, and related capabilities into clear customer value.
  • Coordinate client demonstrations, pilot projects, proof-of-concept programs, technical presentations, and follow-up activities that support commercial conversion.
  • Lead or support responses to requests for proposals, requests for information, vendor registrations, qualification packages, and competitive bids.
  • Represent Perspectum at client meetings, conferences, trade events, association functions, and other targeted business-development activities.
  • Gather market intelligence and customer feedback, communicate requirements internally, and ensure commercial commitments remain aligned with operational capability and capacity.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, environmental science, energy management, or a related discipline; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
  • At least five years of progressive business development, technical sales, account management, or commercial experience in energy, utilities, oil and gas, industrial services, environmental services, or inspection services.
  • Demonstrated success originating new opportunities, developing customer relationships, and advancing complex, relationship-driven sales cycles to award.
  • Strong working knowledge of Alberta and Western Canadian energy, utility, industrial, or infrastructure markets.
  • Experience communicating with operations leaders, environmental and emissions teams, engineers, procurement personnel, field personnel, and executive decision-makers.
  • Ability to understand technical service offerings and convert customer requirements into clear scopes, commercial proposals, and compelling operational or financial value.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, proposal-development, negotiation, and professional follow-through skills.
  • Experience maintaining a structured opportunity pipeline, using customer relationship management tools, and producing credible forecasts and activity reporting.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple opportunities, and collaborate effectively with geographically distributed technical and operational teams.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel frequently throughout Alberta and Western Canada, including overnight and occasional remote-site travel.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada and residence in Alberta; Calgary or Edmonton is strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Established relationships within Alberta oil and gas, pipelines, utilities, power generation, landfill, environmental, or industrial markets.
  • Experience with fugitive-emissions management, methane detection or quantification, LDAR programs, optical gas imaging, alternative fugitive-emissions management programs, or related regulatory requirements.
  • Experience selling inspection, engineering, environmental, aviation, remote-sensing, UAS, or other technically specialized field services.
  • Familiarity with Alberta Energy Regulator requirements, including Directive 060, and the operational drivers behind emissions-management and inspection programs.
  • Experience developing recurring inspection programs, multi-site service agreements, master service agreements, or multi-year commercial relationships.
  • Experience working directly with technical field teams to develop scopes of work, project assumptions, schedules, pricing, and customer deliverables.
  • Experience conducting technical demonstrations, supporting pilot programs, developing strategic partnerships, or opening new regional or vertical markets.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position is Alberta-based and may be structured as a hybrid or remote role, with regular work at client offices, industrial facilities, project locations, and industry events. Travel may involve early departures, extended driving, overnight stays, remote locations, and occasional exposure to heat, cold, wind, dust, uneven terrain, and active industrial environments. The employee must be able to safely access client sites, wear required personal protective equipment, and carry normal business or demonstration equipment weighing up to approximately 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable law.

Employment Conditions
  • Employment is contingent upon verification of relevant experience, driving eligibility, work authorization, satisfactory screening, and the ability to meet applicable client site-access and safety requirements.
  • Travel schedules, customer priorities, sales territories, and assigned accounts may change based on market conditions, project requirements, client needs, and company strategy.
  • Perspectum Drone Inspection Services Ltd. reserves the right to revise duties, territories, accounts, and assignments consistent with operational and commercial requirements.
