Job Title: Marine Service Writer
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (or until the last customer leaves). Saturdays if needed during the busy season and boat show weekend.
Position Overview
We are a family-owned marine business in Norfolk VA looking for a dependable and customer-focused Marine Service writer to be the first point of contact for our customers. This role is essential to keeping our service and parts departments running smoothly while delivering a positive experience to boaters of all backgrounds and experience levels.
Key Responsibilities
Greet, check in, and check out service and parts customers in a friendly and professional manner
Answer phones, schedule appointments, and assist walk-in customers
Look up, identify, and help customers find marine parts
Assist with parts ordering, receiving, and maintaining accurate inventory
Coordinate with service manager and office manager to ensure efficient workflow
Maintain a clean and organized front desk, parts counter, and common areas
Provide excellent customer service while handling a wide variety of customer personalities and needs
Assist with general cleaning duties as needed
Support special events, including working weekends during the busy season and the annual boat show
Qualifications & Skills
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable using computers, inventory systems, and lookup tools, must be proficient in Excel and Word
Detail-oriented and organized
Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
Boat or marine knowledge is a plus, but not required (willingness to learn is essential)
Work Schedule & Availability
Regular hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (or until last customer leaves)
Must be available to work the weekend of the boat show
