This Americas regional position will manage the Marine Cargo Product Line.

Working as an integral part of the Marine Underwriting team, you will be focused on securing new business opportunities and servicing an existing book by providing leading-edge client focused solutions with an emphasis on Marine Hull & Liabilities. You will develop and structure tailor-made solutions to the most complex risks to win new business and retain existing customers following Underwriting guidelines.

As a key member of our Marine Underwriting Team, you play an integral role in increasing market share while maintaining the highest standards of underwriting as you review, evaluate, select, classify, price, rate and quote risks that are determined to be acceptable.

What you’ll be doing

As a key member of the Americas Ocean Marine Underwriting team, this role consists of two core deliverables. What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Accountable for soliciting and underwriting risks in support of the successful execution of territorial strategic operating and marketing plans, ensuring delivery of positive financial performance.
  • Oversight of proper risk selection, mix of business management, pricing strategies, adherence to underwriting guidelines, quality analysis for Ocean Cargo.
  • Handle large and complex placements
  • Responsible for an annual production plan to maintain & grow existing relationships, assist with geographical expansion, and identify new producer appointments.
  • Provide necessary underwriting and tactical support to peer underwriters and junior underwriters.
  • Collaborate with other business units to advance the enterprise and reputation of the marine unit within the enterprise and identify cross-sell opportunities.
  • Assist the marine leadership team as necessary on project work to expand the appetite and product offerings of the marine unit.

You will report to the Head of Marine.

What you’ll bring

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

  • A bachelor's Degree is required for this role. Designations or progress towards same is preferred including, but not limited to: CPCU, CIC, AU, AAI, CLCS, CRM, and ARM.
  • Extensive Ocean Cargo insurance underwriting experience, including Multinational Programs.
  • Recognized expert and specialization in the ocean marine insurance industry.
  • Business development leader with a successful track record driving profitable growth.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, networking, marketing, collaboration skills evidencing public speaking and presentation experience.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers, producers and trading partners.
  • Effective technical skills with Microsoft Office (including Excel) and other relevant systems. Travel of up to 15% of the time is anticipated.

The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD 132,200-257,100.

Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual's skills, experience and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues' pay.
