Job description

Make an impact in offshore wind and marine projects

At Ballast Nedam Wind & Marine, we deliver complex offshore wind and marine infrastructure projects that are central to the energy transition and maritime development. As a Senior Project Engineer Wind & Marine, you are responsible for the technical leadership of our tenders and engineering activities during project execution. You ensure that projects meet technical, quality, and constructability standards from tender stage to final delivery.

Your Role

You translate concepts and designs into practical, executable engineering solutions while proactively managing technical risks. You work closely with tender teams, project management, supply chain partners, and subcontractors. Once a tender is awarded, you maintain oversight of the technical integrity throughout execution, ensuring alignment with project goals.

As a senior engineer, you are not only technically excellent but also a mentor and coach for junior engineers, helping to structure the team’s work, share knowledge, and contribute to building a robust engineering organization within a fast-growing business unit.

What You Will Do

You will work on international offshore wind and marine projects, balancing planning, cost, and quality requirements. Your responsibilities include:

  • Developing technical solutions and execution methods for offshore foundations, Balance of Plant (BoP) installations, marine infrastructure, and decommissioning projects.
  • Overseeing engineering activities across both tendering and execution phases, ensuring high standards and constructability.
  • Coordinating technical interfaces with suppliers, subcontractors, and supply chain partners.
  • Identifying, managing, and mitigating technical risks, while safeguarding quality and project outcomes.
  • Coaching and guiding (junior) project engineers, supporting their technical and professional development.
  • Bringing structure to a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent activities.
  • Driving process improvements and the implementation of engineering best practices.

In short: you are a hands‑on senior engineer with vision, capable of maintaining overview, ensuring technical excellence, and bringing people along with you.

About Your Team

You will join a compact, entrepreneurial team within Ballast Nedam Wind & Marine. The unit combines the agility of a startup with the stability of a large organization: short communication lines, room for initiative, and continuous development.

The team includes senior and junior project engineers, supported by project, tender, and business development managers. Together, you deliver internationally significant projects in offshore wind and maritime infrastructure. The environment is collaborative, pragmatic, and energetic, with space for learning, humor, and teamwork.

As the team grows, you will play a key role in shaping both projects and the engineering organization behind them.

What You Bring

You thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment and enjoy creating solutions for technically complex projects. You are calm under pressure, technically authoritative, and capable of guiding others with your vision.

You also bring:

  • A completed bachelor’s or master’s degree (Mechanical, Civil, Maritime, or Offshore Engineering).
  • 10+ years of experience as a project engineer within offshore wind, offshore O&G, or marine projects.
  • Proven experience with foundation installation, marine operations, and heavy lift operations (preferred).
  • Strong familiarity with both tendering and execution phases.
  • Experience coaching and developing engineers.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with drive to build and improve.
  • Flexibility and resilience in a fast‑changing, high‑paced environment.
