Business Unit Overview
8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings' private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. ("THL"), a private equity firm.

3rd Shift Differential: $1.50/hr!
Position Summary:
Our 8th Avenue Packaging Operator II roles support continuous manufacturing at our Eugene facility. In addition to Packaging Operator II duties and responsibilities, our Operator II roles are responsible for safely, effectively, and efficiently operating packaging equipment according to product and customer specifications. Employees in this role lead changeover procedures for assigned packaging lines and are accountable for ensuring timely and accurate changeovers occur. Employees in these roles also perform critical housekeeping and clean-up responsibilities to support overall quality and food safety program responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operates packaging equipment according to product specifications and customer requirements, ensuring accuracy in weights and quality of packaging. Monitor and accurately troubleshoot/adjust machine settings as required
  • Efficiently and effectively lead changeover procedures for packaging lines. Use tools, standard operating procedures, and specifications to set up machines according to customer, food safety, quality, and product requirements
  • Use work order parameters to perform checks of product, packaging, and case printing. Reports any issues or concerns observed
  • Frequently inspect product for adherence to quality, food safety, and customer requirements
  • Safely and efficiently case pack and hand palletize pouches and cartons according to product specifications and customer needs, as needed
  • Accurately and efficiently complete paperwork and logs during production, changeovers, washdowns, and First Article events
  • Perform routine housekeeping responsibilities according to quality and food safety standards, including: cleaning floors, recycle materials, trash, end of shift clean ups
  • Responsible for following policies, standard operating procedures, customer specifications, and GMPs to maintain overall Food Safety and Quality program excellence
  • Other duties, as assigned

Education & Experience Required:
  • 1+ year(s) machine operation experience
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime, as needed

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Must have previous experience operating basic computer programs (Excel, Outlook, Manufacturing Systems)
  • Previous experience with an ERP system (JDE)
  • Previous experience operating packaging machinery
  • Previous experience operating powered industrial trucks (PIT)
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must be able to follow written methods, paying close attention to details
  • Must be able to follow specific work direction and adjust as necessary to accomplish the job
  • Must be able to maintain legible & accurate records / paperwork as required

Physical Requirements: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Must be able to walk or stand for up to 8+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to reach above shoulders for 1+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to balance, bend, crouch, kneel, and stoop for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, push, pull, and feel for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken or written word
  • Must be able to make fine distinctions by sound
  • Must be able to distinguish object or equipment visually

Wage: $18+ depending on experience
