Compensation range for onsite WA applicants is $30.83 to $43.27 per hour. All applicants are welcome to apply.
What will I be doing?
AST is seeking a Technical Writer to support documentation for Engineering, Manufacturing,
and Technology.
The Technical Writer will play an active role in developing, maintaining, and standardizing
technical documentation that supports AST's pharmaceutical equipment, systems, and
internal processes. This position will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality,
and Technology teams to produce clear, accurate, and well-structured technical content
used throughout the equipment lifecycle.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical writing skills, attention to detail, and the
ability to translate complex engineering concepts into clear, concise documentation suitable
for internal and external use. This role requires a willingness to learn AST's equipment
platforms, manufacturing processes, and applicable industry standards to create consistent,
high-quality technical documents.
The position will report to the Director of Marketing. The
position is based in office in Tacoma, Washington.

Responsibilities:
• Authoring and maintaining engineering and manufacturing documentation such as
technical specifications, design descriptions, procedures, work instructions, validation
support documents, and customer-facing technical manuals.
• Supporting document standardization, version control, and change management
activities.
• Ensuring technical content is clear, traceable, and aligned with regulatory and
industry expectations where applicable.
• Establish and maintain a process for generating whitepapers, customer case studies
and other technical content.
• Prepare and maintain machine documentation that is delivered to customers,
including O&M manuals, validation test protocol documents and functional.
specification documents, including User Requirement Specifications for R&D projects.
• Assist with Human Machine Interface content development to ensure clarity for end
users.
• Define and maintain standards, style and terminology for written documents.
• Work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure all technical
documentation needs are met.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing.
Qualifications:
• 2+ years of experience in technical writing.
• Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications or other related
field with demonstrated writing ability.
• Excellent oral, written, analytic and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range
of individuals.
• Experience working in Adobe Creative Suite products (InDesign, Photoshop) is a
plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Ability to translate technical information into clear, concise and effective
documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated technical aptitude with ability to learn AST's machinery and work
independently to provide documentation.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
• Must be willing to take and successfully pass a drug test.
