Job Title: Quality Technical WriterJob Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Technical Writer to develop, maintain, and continuously improve inspection plans within our quality management platform. This role involves translating engineering drawings, customer specifications, and process requirements into clear, actionable inspection instructions that ensure consistent and compliant product quality across manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical writing skills, a working knowledge of quality inspection practices, and hands-on experience with digital quality management systems.

Responsibilities
  • Create, revise, and maintain inspection plans in the quality management system based on engineering drawings, customer specifications, and applicable industry standards.
  • Translate technical and quality requirements into clear, unambiguous inspection instructions, characteristics, sampling plans, and acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Operations to identify critical-to-quality characteristics and appropriate inspection methods.
  • Configure inspection plan structures including characteristic types, tolerances, gauges/measurement methods, and sampling frequency.
  • Review and update inspection plans in response to engineering change orders, customer requirement changes, and internal corrective actions.
  • Support standardization of inspection plan templates and terminology across product lines and facilities.
  • Partner with Document Control to ensure inspection plans follow revision control procedures and align with ISO 9001 quality management system.
  • Audit existing inspection plans for accuracy, completeness, and continued relevance; retire or revise outdated plans.
  • Identify opportunities to improve inspection plan clarity, efficiency, and data quality within the system.
Essential Skills
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering, or quality-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a quality, manufacturing, technical writing, or related role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with Quality Management System (QMS) software platforms, with direct experience in 1Factory strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, customer specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to create clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation for shop floor and operational teams.
Work Environment

The work environment involves utilizing digital quality management systems and collaborating closely with engineering and operational teams. This role requires strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills to ensure alignment across various departments and adherence to quality management standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
