Position Title: Manufacturing Engineer FLSA Classification: EXEMPT

Reports To: Manufacturing Engineering Manager/Dir Engineering 


JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Summary/Objective:

The Manufacturing Engineer will maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of all production related manufacturing equipment and processes required to manufacture high quality product in a repeatable and cost-effective manner.


Essential Functions:

  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials, and parts.
  • Actively participates in department/shift/team meetings and facilitates improvement/resolutions, and follow-up to employees.
  • Organizing, planning, commissioning, and maintaining production lines.
  • Maintain and improve all factory processes and related KPI’s. 
  • Utilize benchmarking methods for continuous improvement in manufacturing. Develop systems for improvement.
  • Create standard work documentation and support deployment / implementation.
  • Support, cost estimate, and document all engineering changes.
  • Strong understanding of Lean/Continuous Improvement concepts, principles, practices, and implementation required.
  • Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformance relating to product, processes, and/or systems.
  • Support new product launch, creating work cells, staffing models and manufacturing flow.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the organization.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to learn required systems that are utilized to be successful in this position, such as AutoCAD, Solidworks (Assembly & Motion Studies), Microsoft Project, Infor XA, AS400, and CNC Programming.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, communication skills, multitasking abilities, and the ability to communicate written and orally.
  • Strong mathematics skills. 
  • Ability to calculate figures and understand technical complex concepts
  • Ability to identify and describe practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists..

Required Education and Experience:

  • 1 – 3 years related experience

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt certification a plus.
  • Automation implementation experience a plus.
