Overview
THE ROLE

The position: The Corporate Manufacturing QA Manager is leading GD's quality programs and processes. The role is responsible for implementing quality related goals, developing quality control procedures, and conducting audits to ensure compliance with standards. The position involves problem-solving, reporting quality issues, and implementing corrective actions to improve the overall quality of the organization's products and services.
Responsibilities
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Develop, continuously improve, and maintain the global Built-In Quality System (BIQ) which includes quality related processes and procedures in the manufacturing/production area (e.g., standard work)
  • Identify and lead or support the Problem-Solving/Continuous Improvement Projects based on Cost of Poor Quality (warranty, scrap, rework) and Red Tagged Trailers to drive continuous improvement based on the Pareto Principle.
  • Lead the internal CAR process and support the plants in identifying and integrating innovative and robust corrective actions/solutions.
  • Ensure quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information, metrics, and trends.
  • Evaluate and update Manufacturing Quality Standards (e.g., defect types, control plans, inspection plans) and ensure that requirements and standards stated in the Control Plan and other quality related procedures and instructions are followed/met.
  • Manage the Audit planning together with the Plant Quality Leaders and support conducting them. Follow up and coordinate the action plans as result of the audits in the different locations to close identified or potential gaps.
  • Coordinate internal audits to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement at all facilities and ensure the common rules, methods, standardization, and application of quality procedures in the plants (systems, process, part)
  • Lead frequent PFMEA, CP reviews with relevant revisions if applicable.
  • Ensure proper communication, collaboration, and training between and for the plants.
  • Drive Lessons Learned (LeLe) based on sustainable solutions and communicate it to the Advanced Quality function.
  • Lead Quality Best Business Practice team meetings to ensure collaboration between plants to implement the best solutions globally.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Your skills and abilities (required qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in a science or technical related field
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role
  • 7+ years of experience in operations and/or quality (industry)
  • Strong skills and mindset in problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Strong conflict management skills
  • Certificate in Automotive Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, 8D)
  • Six Sigma certification / ASQ certification preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel on short notice; Travel: 30-50%
