Position Overview:

The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company's Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure all products meet customer, regulatory, and company requirements. This position leads quality assurance and quality control activities throughout the manufacturing process, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and promotes a culture of quality across the organization. The Quality Manager works closely with production, engineering, purchasing, and customers to ensure compliance, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of a Quality Manager is to ensure that the company's products consistently meet customer requirements, industry standards, and regulatory requirements while driving continuous improvement throughout the organization.


Quality Management System

  • Manage and maintain the company's Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001, AS9100, and other applicable standards.
  • Ensure that quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and documentation are maintained throughout the organization.
  • Monitor compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Quality Assurance & Inspection

  • Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities.
  • Establish inspection methods, sampling plans, and acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of inspection, measurement, and test equipment.
  • Review and approve First Article Inspections (FAI), PPAP submissions, and customer quality documentation as required.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action activities using tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and FMEA.
  • Analyze quality metrics and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Drive scrap reduction, rework reduction, and defect prevention initiatives.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement programs.

Customer & Supplier Quality

  • Oversee and support customer quality concerns and audits.
  • Assist with investigations for customer complaints and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Monitor supplier quality performance and assist with supplier development activities.
  • Collaborate with customers to resolve quality issues and improve satisfaction.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise and mentor quality personnel.
  • Provide quality training and guidance to employees throughout the organization.
  • Establish performance goals and conduct employee evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Track and report key quality metrics including cost of quality, scrap, rework, customer returns, and audit results.
  • Prepare quality reports for management review meetings.
  • Utilize statistical analysis and SPC techniques to monitor process capability and performance.
Requirements:

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949.
  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of quality tools including SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and Root Cause Analysis
  • Understands manufacturing processes, GD&T, blueprint reading, and manufacturing inspection requirements.
  • Experience with precision measuring equipment such as CMMs, micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and optical comparators.
  • Has working knowledge of ERP systems, quality software, and Microsoft
  • Office applications.

Qualifications: (Minimum & Preferred)

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 7+ years of management, supervisory, or leadership experience in manufacturing.
