Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position: Manufacturing Process Technician is responsible for working within teams to develop new or improved optical fiber manufacturing equipment or controls that deliver improved product attributes or reduced cost of optical fiber.

Responsibilities:
•    Support the design, installation, start-up and troubleshooting of development equipment
•    Install, and troubleshoot new controls capabilities and/or measurement instrumentation and measurement techniques
•    Assist in running experiments and interpreting results
•    Collaborate with equipment design engineers, processing equipment deployment teams, and manufacturing receivers during later stages of technology development
•    Provide training and documentation to support transfer of new processes and equipment

Travel Requirements: Domestic travel expected <10%.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:
•    2 years electrical/mechanical technical degree preferred with 2+ years of work experience in a technical field, or H.S. or GED - 10+ years of work experience in a technical field.

Required Skills:
•    1 year minimum experience with CAD software (AutoCAD or similar)
•    Good process and equipment troubleshooting skills
•    Mechanically and electrically inclined (aptitude for both) 


Desired Skills:
•    Data analysis skills and familiarity with software (PI, EXCEL, JMP etc)
•    Basic understanding of PLCs
•    Capable of using Diagnostic testing equipment

This position does not support immigration sponsorship.  

The range for this position is $72,744.00 - $100,023.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
