The aggregate company included rollups of Marco; Superior Fireplace, which began in the 1930s; stove and insert companies including Country Stoves, established in 1977. FMI, a subsidiary of Desa, rolled up Design Dynamics in vented and vent-free logs in the early 2003 timeframe. Subsequently, the management team from the FMI segment of Desa acquired the assets of their division in 2008. TRM Innovative Heart Products is a growing manufacturing company that manufactures fireplace inserts. Job Description:The EHS Supervisor is responsible for leading the efforts targeted to reduce the COPQ (Cost of poor Quality) and increase compliance with established industry standards, government regulations, and customer requirements. This position interacts with government regulatory representatives to ensure that IHP is within industry standards for OSHA, and ADEM and other agencies as needed. This position maintains all required regulated forms and documents i.e. OSHA 300 log. This position provides guidance and supports the manufacturing teams with comprehensive strategies to improve COPQ and develops KPI’s to track performance. This position has an impact on sales, profit margin, customer satisfaction, quality costs and customer complaints. Reports to the Vice President of Manufacturing.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operates and leads with a “Safety First” mindset.
  • Using a data driven approach and structured KPI’s, this role would develop and implement strategies to support and enhance the quality of the manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Proactively interacts with production leadership and customer support to identify and/or anticipate needs and expectations to ensure they are understood and satisfied.
  • Monitors various sources of quality performance opportunities including product design, manufacturing, warranty reports, Quality Problem Reports (QPR’s), Daily Inspection Reports (DIR’s) and other sources of quality indicators.
  • Works closely with all departments to resolve quality issues and facilitate or execute communications to internal and external customers.
  • Works with Customer Support to utilize customer data and develop corrective/preventative action processes related to customer issues; may include on-site customer visits.
  • Ensures all ongoing regulatory testing is accomplished, results are monitored, and corrective actions are completed to maintain compliance.
  • Investigate and determine the cause of faulty work and/or material and consult and advise production supervisors and suppliers as to corrective measures using formal Root Cause Analysis methods.
  • Interface directly with Customers / suppliers and federal agencies representing the Company in a professional manner.
  • Track suppliers and third-party subcontractor companies Quality records and improvement plans.
  • Leads the internal audit program and manages corrective actions in conjunction with the management review process.
  • Manages direct reports, as applicable, including establishing performance objectives and development plans.
  • Sets clear expectations, provides clear feedback, coaches and provides coaching to team members according to established procedures.
  • Ensures a safe, equitable and respectful environment for all team members.
  • Trains and presents quality training to employees and new hires on a weekly basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or other related field or 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role would be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • OSHA 30 course.
  • Six Sigma Certification and / or Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence desired.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality assurance and continuous improvement methods, approaches, and tools, including project management.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication training, facilitation and interpersonal skills are required to effectively perform essential functions.
  • Operationally functional with Word, Excel, Outlook and related functionally specific software.
  • Must be able to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, standards and governmental regulations. Must be able to document complaints and solutions, and effectively communicate verbally and in writing and to team members, peers, management and customers.
  • Problem solving skills and ingenuity to operate the facility with minimal resources.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as quality and assembly instructions, drawings, industry standards and safety rules.
  • Ability to write quality documents, routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, Auditors or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference,
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, word processing software and presentation software.
Language Ability:

Position requires fluency in English. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Work Environment:
  • The shift will be Monday- Thursday from 7:00 am till 4:30 pm. Some Fridays may be necessary.
