Position Overview:

As part of the talented Manufacturing Engineering team, you are the process owner and subject matter expert for one or more aluminum machining lines for an array of component parts. You will provide ongoing technical support for daily operations as well as driving continuous improvement projects to reduce costs, increase FPY, and improve process capability.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a technical resource supporting primarily aluminum machining processes to meet safety, quality, and production goals.
  • Troubleshoot aluminum machining operations (fixtures, tooling, equipment) and coordinate corrective actions cross functionally
  • Work cross functionally with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and CNC Programming teams to address issues as they arise
  • Use Lean Six Sigma (LSS) tools to drive continuous improvement of processes
  • Investigate, propose & manage capital projects for equipment, tooling, and fixtures for new processes or to improve existing ones
  • Act as a liaison with product engineering & manufacturing program management as needed
  • Develop processes for new products from DFM through PPAP
  • Develop and update/maintain process documentation
  • Actively support and participate in plant safety programs and initiatives
  • Monitor and seek resolutions for process issues, as they arise, using internal quality data systems and metrics.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field is required
  • 3-5 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in a machining environment
  • Strong mechanical as well as "hands on" aptitude
  • Experience with machining processes (e.g. tooling, workholding, CNC programs)
  • Ability to interact & communicate with different functions & various levels of employees
  • Excellent problem solving skills & ability to prioritize projects
  • PC skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Good communication skills both written and oral.
  • Proficient with 2D CAD for floorplan planning (Autocad)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with machining processes, aluminum experience a plus
  • Experience managing and executing capital projects
  • Experience in PPAP/new product launches, with a manufacturing focus
  • ASQ, SME, Lean Six Sigma certification
  • Understanding of GD&T, Reading and understanding engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of SPC, data analysis a plus
  • Proficient with 3D CAD (CREO)

Working Conditions:

  • Your primary workspace will be a cubicle within the machining facility, with periodic trips as needed to the production floor, assembly department, main corporate offices, and other Fond du Lac production facilities that maintain internal customer/supplier relationships (approximately 50%).
  • Ability to spend extended periods at machines on the production floor to support production activities, including RC/CA for production issues, troubleshooting, qualification, runoffs, testing, training, and related support functions (approximately 45%).
  • Safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes are required at all times when on the production floor.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $73,600 - $106,200, annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate's qualifications and the business context.
