Manufacturing EngineerLocation: Moore, SCDepartment: Production EngineeringReports To: Site Engineering & Facilities ManagerEmployment Type: Full-TimePosition SummaryTakeuchi Mfg is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Manufacturing Engineer to support and improve assembly manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for optimizing production processes, designing and implementing manufacturing fixtures and jigs, creating 3D models and engineering drawings, improving quality and productivity, reducing costs, and supporting the introduction of new products and equipment. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with operations, quality, maintenance, and leadership teams to develop innovative manufacturing solutions that improve safety, quality, efficiency, and operational performance.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes for assembly operations.Analyze production workflows and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.Design and maintain standardized work instructions, process documentation, and assembly procedures.Lead continuous improvement projects utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies.Support production teams by troubleshooting process issues, equipment challenges, and product quality concerns.Conduct time studies, capacity analyses, and line balancing activities to optimize labor utilization and throughput.Support the selection, installation, validation, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment and tooling.Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for process failures and customer complaints.Participate in new product introductions and engineering change implementation.Develop and maintain process FMEAs, process standards, and process flow documentation.Monitor key manufacturing metrics and generate reports on performance improvements.Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards.Design, develop, and implement assembly fixtures, jigs, work holding devices, gauges, and tooling to improve safety, quality, ergonomics, and productivity.Create and maintain 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation for manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures, and production aids.Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to design and validate tooling solutions that support assembly processes and error-proofing initiatives.Manage tooling projects from concept through design, fabrication, testing, implementation, and continuous improvement.Conduct ergonomic and manufacturability assessments to ensure fixtures and workstations support efficient and safe production operations.Support capital projects involving automation, robotics, and custom assembly equipment through mechanical design and integration activities.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.Minimum 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience in an assembly manufacturing environment.Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.Experience with root cause analysis tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and Corrective Action processes.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of material.Project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and teamwork abilities.Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Creo, CATIA, or equivalent.Experience designing manufacturing fixtures, jigs, tooling, and work holding solutions for assembly processes.Ability to create detailed engineering drawings and technical specifications for fabrication and procurement.Preferred QualificationsLean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt certification.Experience with automation, robotics, vision systems, or assembly equipment.Familiarity with CAD software and manufacturing simulation tools.Experience working in an assembly manufacturing environment.Experience designing automated assembly fixtures, poka-yoke devices, and error-proofing systems.Knowledge of additive manufacturing (3D printing) for rapid prototyping and fixture development.Familiarity with machining, fabrication, welding, and tooling manufacturing processes.Takeuchi is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
