Job Summary 

The Plant Manager is responsible for independently managing the plant manufacturing operations in line with the strategic and annual profit plans. Directs all plant operations with overall responsibilities for Safety, Quality, Logistics, Operations, Continuous Improvement, Maintenance and Employee Relations.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the Plant Management team directing and managing plant operations for production, technical, engineering, launch, quality, supply chain, IT and EHS. 
  • Manages and maintains the quality system; provides the resources necessary to maintain the quality system. 
  • Manages and maintains the Environmental Management System; provides the resources necessary to maintain the quality of the system.
  • Conducts management reviews of the quality and EM system. 
  • Responsible for customer satisfaction. 
  • Responsible for the safety of employees, visitors, and contractors within the site. 
  • Ensures document and data control at the plant level. 
  • Coordinate plant activities through planning with departmental managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner. 
  • Manage policy deployment in areas of lean manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations and engagement, visual controls, and plant performance measures. 
  • Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development. 
  • Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships. 
  • Prepare the Plant Profit Plan with the assistance of the plant staff and submits the Plant Profit Plan to Vice President of Operations and CFO for review

Essential Job Duties:

  • Manage the operations within the plant with support from a cross functional staff of departmental managers
  • Plan, organize and direct the manufacturing operation to ensure the most effective return on assets and obtainment of production schedules and overall business objectives
  • Manage policy deployment in areas of lean manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations & engagement, visual controls, and plant performance measures
  • Create profit plan including budgets, personnel, and investment plans
  • Control deviations from the planned "actual" values and introducing corrective measures
  • Monitor daily & monthly company directed KPI's and report out to Regional Director in monthly MOR
  • Provide root cause analysis of production and quality issues and make appropriate decisions based on risk analysis
  • Assure that all corporate guidelines and procedures are adhered to
  • Communicate regularly with direct reports and management and supervise their performance in all functions including performance evaluations
  • Manage plant launch team to achieve corporate launch objectives
  • Maintain high level of customer, community, and public relations in keeping with the corporate image
  • Identify the needs for capital acquisition, gather information, and obtain appropriate approvals

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or similar field
  • Minimum 7 years' experience with plant/department responsibilities
  • 7 years' experience automotive manufacturing, plastic injection molding, or similar plant environment, some within a JIT environment
  • Strong team building, decision making, communication and people management skills
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and corresponding technical expertise
  • Extensive experience working/communicating with customers and suppliers
