Moog Space and Defense Group is the operating group with the longest heritage at Moog. The ever-evolving markets we serve require innovation and allow for constantly developing career opportunities. We are also "revolutionizing the way to space" by supporting the return of humans to the Moon and NASA's deep space exploration programs.
Our team in Space & Defense is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join them. You will report to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineers and will have an onsite work schedule in Johnson City, TN.
To be considered for Manufacturing Engineer, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering field OR Bachelor's degree with relative work experience in a manufacturing environment OR an associate degree with 3 years of related experience in a manufacturing role. Related Military experience may be considered.
  • Experience in communicating with internal and external customers, coworkers, and other business disciplines.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Self-starter as an individual and function efficiently in a team-based manufacturing environment.
  • Some travel within the United States.

Preferred requirements
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in Fiber Optics is a plus
  • Familiarity with lean principles and Six Sigma
  • Experience with an electro-mechanical or magnetic background
  • Familiarity with clean rooms

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will:
  • Work and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and be culturally aware to support global operations and effectively collaborate with diverse teams and international clients.
  • Be the support to the production lines, outside vendors, suppliers and contractors.
  • Oversee the manufacturing process development with a domestic and international team.
  • Review drawings, order and support manufacturing tooling, work instructions, labor standards, facility layout, quotes and continuous improvement.
  • Review and respond to request for quotes on new orders.
  • Conduct mechanical and electrical manufacturing design reviews and offer improvement suggestions for manufacturability.
  • Enforce and follow policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements as they apply such as ITAR and AS9100.
  • Prepare and present daily, weekly, and monthly reports to leadership on operational performance, schedule attainment, spending, and capital expenditure requests.
  • Support technical exchange discussions with suppliers and Moog.
  • Cross-train to help in other areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range Transparency:
