Manufacturing Assembly Line Leader

Help us build reliably, safely, and smarter—every shift. As the Assembly Line Leader at BAC, you drive day-to-day output while progressing long-term departmental projects. Your impact
  • Lead safety: Set and enforce safety standards; ensure proper PPE usage at all times.
  • Optimize staffing: Flex manpower and delegate by skill set to meet Assembly Line goals.
  • Communicate clearly: Keep information flowing—Toolbox talks, daily updates, and transparent guidance.
  • Partner for flow: Coordinate with Sheet Metal, BBD, and other teams to align materials with the production schedule.
  • Operate equipment safely: Use jib and overhead cranes to move and position components as needed.
  • Develop people: Train the team, maintain a skills matrix, onboard new hires with a Buddy & Mentor, and conduct weekly follow-ups.
  • Performance management: Co-set objectives with the Team Leader; provide quarterly feedback and assist with annual reviews.
  • Investigate and improve: Complete detailed accident investigations for incidents on your shift; model LEAN and 5S excellence.
  • Deliver results: Meet or exceed production goals; ensure process discipline and quality adherence.
  • Coach for standards: Counsel team members on safety, quality, and productivity expectations.
  • Innovate and sustain: Advance ideas that reduce waste, energy, and water use and turn innovation into business value.
  • Be adaptable: Provide coverage on alternate shifts as needed; follow Shift Leader Standard Work; perform additional duties as assigned.
Team context

Reporting to the department Team Leader or Supervisor, you are part of the leadership team and share accountability for departmental goals. You lead the department in the Team Leader’s absence and may serve on cross-functional or regional teams.

Skills and experience
  • Supervisory strength: lead, delegate, follow up; exercise sound independent judgment.
  • Team builder: grow high-performing teams and develop senior mechanics as influencers and mentors.
  • Production savvy: interpret schedules; deep product knowledge of BAC models and parts.
  • Communication: professional English (written and spoken); create clear process documentation; communicate with customers, engineers, and mechanics.
  • Programs and methods: understanding of IPI and CAP; facility with CI tools; adept at leading meetings and presentations.
  • Equipment: trained and certified to operate overhead and JIB cranes.
  • Systems: Word, Excel (intermediate—data updates, metric creation), PeopleSoft, Internet, ADI; familiarity with spreadsheets and databases.
  • Operational excellence: LEAN, 5S, Gemba, and the 7 wastes.
  • Quality: knowledgeable in procedures, policies, and ISO instructions; able to initiate engineering change requests.
Work setting
  • On your feet: stand and walk up to 80% of the shift; routinely bend, stoop, kneel, squat, sit, and reach.
  • Strength: frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Environment: manufacturing noise, temperature swings, and intermittent outdoor exposure in yard and dock areas.
  • Schedule: occasional weekends; availability expected for any of the three operating shifts.
