Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Position Overview
  • We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Maintenance Technician to support the reliability and performance of our manufacturing facility and infrastructure systems. In this role, you will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair equipment issues, and help minimize downtime to support a 24/7 industrial environment.
  • You will play a key role in maintaining production efficiency by responding to emergency repairs, supporting new equipment installations, and ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards. This position also participates in the site's Emergency Response Team (ERT), requiring a strong commitment to safety, preparedness, and continuous training.
  • The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, and able to work independently while adapting to changing priorities. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated technician who takes pride in maintaining high-performing equipment and contributing to a safe, well-run operation.
  • Employees will be trained under supervision and gradually transition to independent work. Success in this role depends on attention to detail, willingness to follow procedures, and comfort working in an industrial environment with strict safety requirements.
  • Due to ITAR compliance, this position requires a U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien, or protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

  • Effectively performs emergency and unscheduled repairs and preventative maintenance tasks per policies and procedures
  • Responsible for completing maintenance activities on schedule and within quality standards to limit equipment downtime
  • Successfully performs maintenance related activities correlated to the installation of new equipment and process controls
  • Accurately completes and communicates required documentation of work orders, status updates and service records
  • Directs assigned projects including procurement, installation, renovations, and modifications per PSM compliance standards and within safe work practices
  • Approaches all activities with a "safety first" attitude, keeping work, storage, and supply areas clean and organized.

  • Direct physical work in an industrial manufacturing setting 
  • Exposure to dusts, fumes, heat, noise, cold and potential exposure to hazardous and toxic materials
  • Potential to work in isolated locations
  • Work may occasionally be performed outdoors in variable weather conditions
  • Work may consist of being elevated either on ladder or lift, or in tight spaces
  • Working hours may consist of off-shift, on-call, weekends, and holidays to accommodate a 24/7 operation

  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to climb, bend, reach, push, pull, and work on ladders or mechanical lifts.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and safety equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements for required Emergency Response Team participation.

  • All employees must comply with site EHS procedures and Coherent Corporate EHS standards.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

  • Dust mask, respirator, or supplied air as required

  • Pre-employment PFT and respirator physical
  • Required Annual PFT and respirator physicals
  • Quality and Environmental Responsibilities
  • Due to inventory quantities of some highly hazardous materials, MPZ is covered by OSHA standard for Process Safety Management, as well as EPA's Risk Management program.  All MPZ personnel are required to understand the importance of following all operating procedures to maintain regulatory compliance with these programs.
  • Due to classification of several process waste streams, DEP standards for Hazardous Waste handling and storage must be followed to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Coherent meets the ISO 9001 quality standards. MPZ employees must understand and follow all applicable Quality Assurance policies and participate in audits to maintain ISO 9001 certification.
