Responsibilities
  • Work with Facilities and Maintenance Director to upgrade the equipment to the latest technology.
  • Assist in developing the annual capital equipment budget for replacing the existing End of Life manufacturing equipment.
  • Lead launching of replacing the End-of-Life manufacturing equipment per 5-Year Capital investment strategy.
  • Prepare and recommend specifications and evaluate bids for contractor activities and/or equipment purchases.
  • Need to have a high mind set of reducing MTTR and MTBF and completion of any projects on time as planned without slipping the dates.
  • Actively participates in Production readiness buy-off process of any new equipment launch, process changes, and equipment relocation.
  • Actively support Safety Risk RPN reduction initiative.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes in support of new and existing products to ensure timely delivery of quality products.
  • Provide Manufacturing Engineering support for the company and provide on-going manufacturing engineering support for maintenance department.
  • Assist in managing the document control procedures through the existing Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Assist in developing the annual capital equipment budget.
  • Oversee the justification, planning, and execution of individual capital projects to scheduled timelines and within approved budget.
  • Evaluate production capacity capabilities of existing operations and recommend and implement enhancements as needed.
  • Analyze production processes, work balance, production scheduling, capacity, and cell concepts to optimize crew distribution for efficiency, capacity, and lead-time.
  • Identify manufacturing variability issues and work with Product Engineering, Production, and Maintenance to reduce or eliminate variation in manufacturing processes.
  • Implement lean manufacturing and Kaizen principles and concepts in the manufacturing areas.
  • System level Simulation using Creo and analyzing the validation results from the CAE tools related to FEA.
  • Responsible for Component-level design that includes hoses, tubes, simple fabricated steel structures, component mounting systems, and non-metallic components.
  • Achieving quality, cost, and time targets as set by the NPI teams.
  • Maintaining high quality models and bill of materials in the windchill for fixtures.
  • Conducting the design reviews after successful completion of the final concepts, collaborating with FEA, Virtual audit group, other systems in the machine cross-functional teams and doing the design changes if required as per the requirements and validation results.
  • Domestic (U.S.) travel is required up to 10% for supplier visits for new fixtures build and dealer/customer visits for product related issues.
Requirements
  • Position requires a Bachelorโ€™s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or in a Manufacturing Engineer, Fixtures-related occupation.
  • Position requires demonstrable experience interfacing with vendors, contractors, and employees at all levels in the organization.
  • Position requires demonstrable experience implementing new technology including Robot automation.
  • Position requires demonstrable experience with MS-Office JDE, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Catia for Welding fixtures design, Material handling equipment like Cart, Trolleys and racks design, semi-automated welding and assembly fixtures.
  • Position requires demonstrable experience in industrial manufacturing environment, New Product Development, Manufacturing or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Position requires demonstrable experience with capital equipment and facility layout projects.
  • Position requires demonstrable experience with metal fabrication, welding, assembly and/or paint systems/processes.
  • Position requires demonstrable experience with lean manufacturing principles including waste reduction to improve the process, Support on MTTR and MTBF, Improve the tooling design and safety in welding fixtures, Kaizen on existing and new toolingโ€™s, Eliminate the Non Value-added time in fixtures.
