We are looking for a Functional QE Analyst / Manual Tester to join our growing team in Chicago, IL

Role - Functional QE Analyst / Manual Tester(3 months contract)

Location - Chicago, IL (on-site)

Must Haves:

  • 3-6 years of QE/QA experience, preferably in functional/manual testing
  • Strong functional/manual testing experience with good understanding of QA/QE practices and objectives
  • Experience with system integration testing, end-to-end workflow validation, or transaction/data validation
  • Ability to validate data-heavy workflows, including transaction logs, spreadsheets, system outputs, and test evidence
  • Knowledge of test repository or defect tracking systems like Jira
  • Ability to create, execute, and maintain detailed test cases
  • Ability to communicate technical information at a high level using common business language
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • A sense of accountability for individual and team objectives, with a focus on quality
  • Ability to be onsite in the Chicago office as needed based on project needs
  • Reliable home internet access and appropriate workspace for taking meetings when working remote

Job Description:

3-6 years of Functional / Manual QE experience

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Test case design, test case documentation, and peer review
  • Manual test execution across web, mobile, POS/terminal, and integrated systems
  • Validate end-to-end business flows, including transaction logging, data capture, and downstream system behavior
  • Review transaction data, logs, spreadsheets, and system outputs to confirm accuracy and completeness
  • Identify and communicate obstacles, risks, defects, and requirement gaps early
  • Participate in daily standups, provide clear status updates, and escalate issues as needed
  • Engage with developers, business analysts, product teams, and QE teams during defect triage and issue resolution
  • Support system integration testing across multiple applications, devices, and business workflows
  • Highlight requirement, design, data, and integration gaps as early in development as possible
  • Create and maintain documentation for knowledge-sharing, training, and future project reference
  • Manage multiple testing activities while maintaining strong attention to detail and quality

Good to Have:

  • Experience testing retail, gaming, POS, kiosk, terminal-based, or transaction-processing systems
  • Hands-on experience testing mobile apps on both iOS and Android devices
  • Fundamental understanding of debugging various mobile and desktop browsers such as Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge
  • Experience with API software such as Postman
  • Experience working with multiple Apple devices such as iPhone, iPad, and MacBook, including Airdrop
  • Experience using spreadsheets for managing or validating data, including Excel, Numbers, SmartSheets, or Google Sheets
  • Experience with web testing, mobile testing, and non-mobile / terminal-based testing
  • Experience in the service industry, retail, sales, consultancy, or customer-facing environments
  • Familiarity working with the Google ecosystem, including G-Suite, Gmail, and Google Drive
  • Experience using collaborative tools such as Teams, Slack, Asana, or similar tools
  • Experience managing documents, test evidence, or office materials in a physical space
  • Web design or server administration experience is a plus
  • Artistic passion such as music, arts, or language is a plus
