Other Conditions:
To begin approximately August 2026 or as soon as possible. This position is for an appointment of 11 months; renewal of appointment is dependent on satisfactory performance, program needs, availability of funds, and meeting the eligibility requirements of the assistantship (for details , go to the UHM Graduate Division website Eligibility & Criteria | Graduate Division (hawaii.edu).
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Conduct research on institutional data, including both qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
2. Compile, organize, and prepare collected research data for further analysis.
3. Draft, edit and finalize written reports (e.g., analysis briefs).
4. Draft charts, dashboards, and infographics that translate complex datasets into "at-a-glance" insights for non-technical audiences.
5. Assist office staff with analysis, data visualization, and report writing activities.
6. Create "How-To" guides and video tutorials for the office's toolset.
7. Cross-check figures to ensure accuracy and consistency.
8. Conduct literature and resource searches for briefs, technical reports, and presentations.
9. Research and compile data from peer institutions to see how the campus ranks or compares in specific metrics.
10. Update and maintain MIRO's website.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Acceptance or enrollment in a master's or PhD program in a good academic standing, if currently enrolled - 3.0 GPA or above and making appropriate progress toward degree.
2. Demonstrated ability to interpret institutional data findings and write concise analytical summaries.
3. Demonstrated ability to analyze quantitative data using based statistical methods and create tables/figures based on quantitative data.
4. Demonstrated ability to work with large numeric data sets and check for accuracy and consistency.
5. Demonstrated ability to conduct and write high-quality literature reviews.
6. Experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Sheets, Docs, Slides) and data visualization software like Tableau.
7. Strong oral and written English communication skills for professional briefings and tutorials.
8. Must be self-motivated, collaborative, and able to conduct duties with minimal guidance.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Familiarity with data governance, individual confidentiality, and privacy standards in an academic environment.
2. Training or experience in institutional research, analytics, or supporting high-level administrative projects.
3. Experience with video editing/screen capture tools.
4. Ability to perform advanced statistical analyses.
