The Medical Translator is accountable for supporting our participants by providing accurate, culturally sensitive translation and interpretation of medical information. This role ensures participants can understand their healthcare options, treatment plans, and services, promoting clear communication between participants and healthcare professionals.
Essential Job Duties:
- Deliver real-time interpretations during medical appointments, care planning meetings, and consultations
- Ensure translations are clear, compassionate, and appropriate for our senior participants and family to understand
- Provide accurate written and verbal translations of medical information, medical documents, educational materials, consent forms, and care instructions
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, IDT team members, and others as needed to support participant care
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Fluent in English and Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) or Spanish
- Certification in medical interpretation/translation from American Translator Association (ATA), Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI), or the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI)
- Must successfully pass the ALTA Interpretation Assessment
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 75% of the time and within the greater Los Angeles County and surrounding area
- Must be willing and able to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and overtime
