All Teacher Assistants, Computer Lab Managers, and Additional Educational Assistants require one of the three options:

  • Workkeys with a passing score of Level 2 & Para Pathways with a minimum score of 456
  • Workkeys with a passing score of Level 2 & 60 credit hours (official transcripts required)
  • Bachelor's Degree (official transcripts required)

Please call 803-739-4048 to schedule an appointment to complete the assessment.ย  Scores must be uploaded under "Additional Materials" in the application packet.ย ย 

SUMMARY:ย  Assist special needs student(s) throughout the school day.

ย ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.ย Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists teacher in assigned classroom operations
  • Demonstrates understanding of student's problems, keeps firm hand and is courteous and fair.
  • Loads/unloads wheelchair bound students on the bus.
  • Participates in physical activities which are a part of the students' basic program.
  • Collect data as assigned by teacher- (training provided)
  • Facilitates instructional groups with teacher provided lesson plans and materials.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

One of the following:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)ย and a passing score on the WorkKeys Assessmentย andย a passing score on the ParaPro / ParaPathways assessment. .
  • Bachelor's Degree

LANGUAGE SKILLS:ย ย 

Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, parents, students and administrators.ย 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detail but uninvolved written or oral instructions.ย  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to work with emotionally, physically and/or mentally impaired students.ย  Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions.ย  Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.ย  Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.ย  Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.ย  The employee is occasionally required to bend at the trunk more than the average person.ย  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and peripheral vision.ย  The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment.
