Job description

Overview

The Clinical Applications Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of the clinical systems, which include PACS, Physicians, Oncology, GI Lab and Cardiology. Responsibilities include support and management of systems and the identification of changes required in current workflow, system design, build, and educational materials. In addition, the supervisor is responsible for supervising the analyst staff and any contract staff.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains the operations and quality of the clinical systems.
  • Assists department heads with the planning, selection and implementation of information systems.
  • Works with system vendors to develop detailed specifications and modifications, and tests software.
  • Develops, tests and coordinates the efforts to build tables, files and directories required by systems to include interfaces.
  • Builds and designs clinical information systems based on product specifications and end users' needs and directs implementation.
  • Differentiates between issues related to software/hardware/network and determines which can be resolved and which must be escalated for resolution.
  • Works closely with the clinical department directors and other project managers to coordinate activities
  • Builds and directs the clinical applications team: provides guidance to the team.
  • Provides regular status updates, including reporting of escalated issues and solutions to the Director of Applications and Operations.
  • Serves as escalation point for all project and operation issues; maintains FirstHealth standards for exceptional customer service and communication to all staff while providing resolutions; inform customers of work progress, ensure timeliness and accuracy
  • Develops staff in accordance with position accountabilities and FirstHealth standards; schedules and assigns work; provides timely and high quality performance feedback
Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education and Formal Training:

BS/BA degree in Nursing/Allied Health/Information Technology or related field required or equivalent combination of education and advanced industry experience. Licensure and/or clinical certification required, if applicable to the degree.

Work Experience:

Minimum of 5 years' experience in a hospital/health system clinical environment.  Minimum two years' experience working in Information Systems role.  Project management and previous supervisory experience preferred.  Previous experience with clinical systems is required.

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented team player who is analytical and solution-focused
  • Valid North Carolina Driver's license required.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Generally works Monday through Friday, day shift.  Evenings, weekends, and after hours work may be required.
  • Will need to travel between various FirstHealth locations.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Generally requires periods of continuous sitting, standing and walking
  • Verbal and written ability to interact professionally with staff, managers, vendors, and public
  • Must have the ability to access all areas of the FirstHealth enterprise
