Job description

Define and own the end-to-end Power BI architecture (dataflows, datasets, reports, workspaces, gateways).

Design semantic models and star schemas optimized for self-service BI and performance.

Establish governance, security, and compliance standards for BI content (RLS, workspace strategy, naming conventions).

Lead the design and development of interactive, visually compelling dashboards and operational reports in Power BI.

Translate business requirements and KPIs into intuitive visualizations and drill-down/summary views.

Ensure best practices in layout, usability, performance, and mobile-friendly reporting.

Data & Integration

Work with data engineers to define and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines feeding Power BI (SQL, data warehouse, data lake).

Optimize data models and queries for high performance and large data volumes.

Integrate data from multiple sources: SQL Server, Excel, flat files, cloud sources, APIs , etc.

Stakeholder Management

Partner with business leaders, product owners, and analysts to understand reporting needs and prioritize roadmap.

Conduct requirements workshops , POCs, and demos.

Train and mentor power users and analysts on self-service BI capabilities and standards.

Governance & Best Practices

Define and enforce Power BI development standards , version control, and deployment processes (Dev/Test/Prod).

Implement monitoring and usage analytics to track adoption and optimize content.

Drive data quality , consistency of metrics, and a single source of truth across the organization.

Must-Have Skills & Experience Technical
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service .
  • Advanced DAX and Power Query (M) skills.
  • Solid experience with data modeling , dimensional modeling, and performance tuning.
  • Strong SQL skills and working experience with at least one major RDBMS (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS) and workspace/security models.
  • Experience designing enterprise BI architectures with multiple environments (Dev/UAT/Prod).
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and architectures (Kimball/Inmon, star/snowflake schemas).
Soft Skills
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to translate technical concepts into business language .
  • Strong stakeholder management and requirements gathering experience.
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior developers and analysts.
Good to Have (QlikView & Others)
  • Hands-on experience with QlikView (and/or Qlik Sense): Building dashboards, charts, and reports in Qlik.
  • Understanding of Qlik scripting and data modeling.
  • Experience in migrating reports from QlikView to Power BI (nice plus).
  • Experience with other visualization tools (Tableau, etc.) is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD for Power BI (e.g., using Azure DevOps).
  • Knowledge of Python/R for advanced analytics is a plus.
