Job description

Saltchuk Marine is looking for an experienced Data Migration & BI Consultant to support our Business Development & Continuous Improvement teams through a critical data infrastructure and systems migration effort. This is a hands-on contract role for someone who can independently extract, cleanse, transform, and migrate data across multiple source systems while also building and maintaining reporting and analytics.
This is a part-time temporary position, working up to 20 hours per week, with an anticipated duration of six months.
What you'll do:
  • Extract, cleanse, and migrate data across legacy and target systems (ERP, CRM, and other operational data sources), ensuring accuracy and integrity throughout the migration lifecycle
  • Write and optimize SQL for data extraction, transformation, and validation against complex datasets. Building in repeatable validation queries/checks
  • Reconcile migrated data against source-of-truth records (row counts, control totals, key balances, master data), identify and resolve discrepancies, and formally sign off on data accuracy before go-live milestones
  • Document data validation and reconciliation processes thoroughly. Including source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, validation criteria, known exceptions, and sign-off records so the process is auditable and repeatable by others
  • Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to move and transform data between source systems, staging environments, and reporting layers
  • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and data visualizations (DAX, Power Query/M) for Financial Analysts, Operations, and other business stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to gather requirements and confirm reconciliation results are understood and accepted by business owners
  • Identify and implement process improvements within the data pipeline and Shared Services data workflows
  • Use Python for scripting, automation, and data processing tasks as needed (pandas, API integrations, etc.)

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience building validation and reconciliation frameworks a
  • Strong SQL skills, comfortable writing complex queries for extraction, transformation, and validation against large, messy datasets
  • Proficiency with Power BI (DAX, Power Query) or equivalent BI tooling (Tableau)
  • Working knowledge of Python for data processing/automation
  • Solid understanding of data modeling and database design principles
  • Strong written documentation skills; able to produce clear, detailed records of data lineage, transformation logic, validation methodology, and reconciliation results that a third party could follow
  • Attention to detail and personal ownership of data accuracy end to end
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Preferred:
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with data extraction, cleansing, migration, and reconciliation (ERP/CRM migrations a strong plus)
  • Experience with ERP systems migrations (e.g., SAP to NetSuite or similar)
  • Experience with API based data integrations
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure (Fabric, Onelake), Snowflake)
  • Experience with source system reconciliation (open balances, GL data, master data cleanup)
  • Comfortable with fundamental accounting concepts (trial balance, income summary) and general financial/business literacy

Compensation: Pay for this position will be between $45 and $55 hourly.
