Responsibilities & Expectations:
IPS is seeking a dedicated Switchgear Technician. In this position you will be responsible for testing, repair, recondition(recertification, remanufacturing) and retrofitting services on switchgear and switchgear components to meet or exceed PEARL standards. This position requires a self-motivated, detail-oriented team member with the ability to learn quickly and work safely.
Test, repair, recondition, recertify, remanufacture, and retrofit services on switchgear.
Meet or exceed PEARL standards.
Qualifications and Competencies:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Mechanical aptitude required
Proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
Ability to pass a respirator fit test and be trained on proper respirator protocol
General understanding and firsthand experience with safe work environments
Be able to read, interpret, and modify documents
Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an excellent driving record
Ability to possess the following certifications: PearlTM Level I and II, Forklift training, TSC Electrical Training Classes completed within one (1) year of hire date, Mine and Safety Administration (MSHA) Training, 10-30 Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Card, In-house training on individual machines in the shop
Ability to learn quickly, demonstrate comprehension, and work independently with new tasks
Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with managers and fellow employees
Ability to demonstrate mechanical aptitude
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 50 lbs. in weight
Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time
Ability to perform manual labor for up to 12 or more hours per day
Acute hearing and strong field of vision
Ability to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions
Ability to stay focused on tasks and work efficiently to meet deadlines
