Job Title: Senior Student Success & Retention Consultant
Industry: Higher Education Consulting
Location: Remote (Prefers candidate from New York)
Rate: Based on experience
Duration: 2–3 months (approx. 150–180 hours).
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Student Success & Retention Consultant to design and operationalize a comprehensive student success framework. The consultant will focus on improving persistence, completion, and equity outcomes by aligning advising strategies, implementing early alert systems, and developing advisor playbooks. Deliverables include a student success blueprint, early alert workflow maps, advisor communication toolkit, and first-term communication plan that ensures adoption and measurable impact.
Responsibilities
  • Map student onboarding, orientation, and advising journeys to identify friction points.
  • Design early alert systems (EAB Navigate, Starfish, Civitas) with risk thresholds and escalation workflows.
  • Create advisor playbooks and communication toolkits for proactive student engagement.
  • Ensure equity-centered interventions that support underserved student populations.
  • Engage advising teams, faculty, and student support staff to drive adoption.
  • Deliver frameworks and tools that are practical and implementable.
 
Qualifications
  • 10–15+ years of experience in student success, retention, or higher education consulting.
  • Hands-on expertise with EAB Navigate, Starfish, Civitas, or similar tools.
  • Experience developing advising strategies and communication protocols.
  • Strong change management and stakeholder engagement skills.
