Position Specific Summary
The Student Consultant IV (Data Consultant) will provide one-on-one support, in-person or virtually, to GW students, faculty, and staff. They will have advanced experience and actively engage with one or more of the statistical software systems and/or programming languages with an interest and willingness to learn a complementary tool listed in the preferred qualifications section of this application. During their appointments, consultants help learners increase their skills and develop new methods. Finally, in addition to one-on-one appointments, consultants may serve as helpers during LAI workshops when requested.
Standard Position Description
Students in this position use specialized skills and knowledge to provide guidance, support, and/or instruction on a particular subject matter. Tasks may include: holding one/one appointments or coaching sessions to help students, staff, and faculty learn or develop their skills in a particular subject area, providing academic and/or leadership support to students or clients, assisting in administrative or reporting functions,  and supporting or leading workshops and developmental activities. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs. 

Professional Outcomes Critical Thinking, Communication, Professionalism, Technology and Data Required Qualifications
The position will require specific professional experience or training, technical expertise, or certifications or licenses to perform position functions. Please refer to the preferred qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree (statistics or related).
  • Experience with and/or willingness to learn how to use at least one of the following programs: SAS, STATA, or SPSS.
  • Advanced experience with data analysis in R and/or Python.
  • Experience w/ other programs such as ArcGIS Pro, Excel, and/or Tableau a plus.
